I made an appointment for the 17th to have Bilstein 5100's and Cooper Dicoverer At3 XLT's installed. Now I need to order a matching wheel for my spare tire so I can do a 5 tire rotation now. Trying to get everything ready for pulling our travel trailer from South East Arizona to Mississippi and then back through Santa Fe, New Mexico before heading home. Looking at 3 weeks on the road.
Maybe I'm just a perpetual scaredy cat but I NEVER do any major work JUST before a long road trip. I like to do at least 100km around town before I head out, just to be sure everything is legit.

I even try to time my oil changes accordingly. Doesn't always work, but.....

Just plain smart.

Not today, but very recently.

Unlocked PCM and I3 from DiabloSport. Not as personality changing as I'd hoped but some definite positives: Truck is more responsive and shifts are improved, and the ability to permanently disable MDS and AS/S makes the truck much more enjoyable. Plus, I've crossed off the necessary first step for future upgrades 😁

Is your truck a hemi etorque? If so, any more detail on shifting? I assume you used Diablo's canned tune? I used Diablosport on my last truck and wasn't that impressed. I had custom tuning on 3 previous cars, and that was a big personality change.

Thanks. I thought about that too at first. We're pulling our 26' travel trailer and I'm not happy with the stock tires when pulling the trailer. I think the 10 ply tires and the Bilsteins will help for the roughly 2500 miles we will be doing round trip. I will have just over a month to drive it around town and maybe some highway miles before we leave.

+1

I did a custom tune on a gasser I had (not a Hemi) a while back. I could tell a difference. But, it was very minor and I was required to run Premium gas, which totally made any mileage improvement a wash in terms of cost to drive. I haven't bothered to do any tuning on a gasser since. Just not worth the money, hassle, possible loss of warranty, etc.. - to ME.

I would have to be adding a supercharger before "performance tuning" on a gasser would be possibly worth it, to me.

It is an etorque. I used the canned 93 that it came with, but I had an issue with it not saving some parameter changes I made. I sent them my data and they set me up with a tune that fit what I wanted it to do. When I eventually get to the point that I’m doing more substantial mods, at least this part will be done.

It is really just one of those mods that doesn’t have a big payoff up front. I’d like to go the boost route eventually, so it made sense to go ahead and bite the bullet now.

What kind of shifting detail are you looking for? Shift points are a little bit higher, firmer, and passing gear is more efficient.
