Mopar LED Bed Lights Install?

It does, thanks. I was looking on BAM parts though and there is four different part numbers for each side.

Yes the four left harness are:

852 - No bed lights, no Ram Box
851 - Bed lighting w/o Ram Box
850 - Bed lighting + Ram Box
853 - Ram Box w/o bed lights

I just want to thank swing4terps and Duane for your help. Installed my led bed lights with the harness terps suggested and they work flawless, just like from factory. No running wires up to cab, just plug and program. Thanks!!

I'm going to be "Captain Obvious" with my question... Looking at the 4 part list (2 wiring harness, 2 LED lamps) and the pics Duane posted ... this is as simple as removing the current wiring harness (I have 2020 big horn, no bed lighting) - replace the 'old' wiring harness with the new, and then connect the LED lamps to the new wiring harness. Then using AlphaOBD enable the

Also - because I just want to make sure I get this right the first time - the Jumper Wiring kit part number that was posted - when I put those in for the 2020 big horn - both the left jumper wiring & right jumper wiring - come back as "does not fit this model and instead shows something like this: 68505930AA (for the right side) - but the diagram looks like it is a completely different jumper wiring harness - anyway just wondering, did you see the same warning?

It will say that they don’t fit because your truck didn’t come that way from factory if your plugging your VIN in. You have to order the numbers that terps suggested. Then all you have to do is program. It’s a lot cleaner way of doing it. Yes, you have to remove old harness and put those new ones in place.

Note: Part numbers are technically different 2020 vs. 2021. Whether the harnesses are actually different, I don’t know.

The parts I listed are for 2021. Would suggest using one of the parts sites that provides full descriptions to confirm the correct numbers for 2020. Then order from wherever.

Mopar Parts Surplus is one you could use for that.

So, if I get the kit from Infotainment, tap into the upstream wire harness near the bed, and program it with the included OBD programmer, I should be good to go?!

I bought the mopar kit. it was easy as heck all plug and play and depinning to wires is nothing. used alphaobd and works as normal and I can turn them on and off from the bed. I wouldn't pay infotamants ridiculous prices they send you the programmer which is only good for the light nothing else its basically a one and done item

Well this morning I finally got around to doing the install...and hey! It worked!!! I got it all right the first time This thread was very helpful, especially the pics showing the driver side harness because there are a couple in that area that are very similar. It took about 2 hours start to finish, and if you happen to have the air suspension put it in OR2 and it will certainly help. Anyway just have to say thanks to this thread!

I want to say Thanks to "swing4terps" and his solution for using the individual bed lights and factory harnesses and NOT the kit sold by Mopar as an accessory. I purchased all 4 of the parts he had listed from BAM, and installed them myself. While I was getting an oil change done at the dealer, I had them "turned on" in the truck's computer while I was there.

Honestly, I can't see why Ram doesn't sell this as "the kit" instead of the nonsense of running a completely new wiring harness from the back to the front of the truck. Added to the fact you have to penetrate the fire wall, and then "de-wire, and re-wire one of the plugs underneath the dash...

The hardest part of this whole process was removing the tools to lower the spare tire out of the way so I could plug in the new harnesses...

My uneducated, don't spend your money because I said yes, guess is, yes. I have a 2020 Big Horn and its probably reasonable to think they are the same part numbers.

My guess is also yes. My 2019 Bighorn has factory bed lights.

Recently, I‘ve looked into this more than I care to admit. Deciding between OEM bed lights, aftermarket, or some combo. I’ve read many comments here that the OEM lights are not very bright and others that aftermarket led strips are too bright. All subjective I guess.

To answer your question, there is a connector in the rear that should have the upstream wiring for the bed lights. With the kit you might be able to pin the connecting connector here instead of running up front; assuming terminals are the same size. You‘d have a lot of excess wire to deal with. Or if you don‘t care about wire taps / keeping totally OEM / it being reversible, you could tap the upstream wires.

As an alternative to the Mopar kit, you can buy the bed Lights and required harnesses separately for roughly the same $ as the kit. This would be truly PLUG and play; no pinning/tapping required. Would still need to program. Harnesses required depends on model year and options. Attached are the part numbers needed for 2021 without Rambox, in case that’s your situation.

I ended up doing OEM lights. Bought the left light and left harness. I found the one light alone to be bright enough and went ahead and bought the right one. Made my own right harness with some spare wire and tapped into the left light wiring. They function same as OEM (light switch included) and if I ever want/need to remove, I can take out lights and put old harness back and it’s factory again.

There are tons of threads here that describe options if you don’t care about altering factory wiring or OEM functionality.

Thank you for this info, I bought the parts you specified and installation was easy. Dealer charged $185 for the programming and it works great. Seems crazy this is not the factory kit for adding the lights.

Hi Jay, you were mentioning using AlfaOBD to turn on the feature for factory Bed Lights. "Additionally, you need to set CBC I/O A5 enabled to yes and CBC I/O G16 enabled to yes in the BCM configuration and the cargo bed lights will be as OEM intended in regards to wiring and function." Is the CBC I/O A5 is that the 2014 CBC Config I/O -Bed Lighting Present - Pin A5 section. This is the only one I can find listed for the pin A5. Thanks
