Nothing. I need more companies to release better lowering options.

I have a dog so I run CanvasBack covers in all of my vehicles. They're awesome in hatchbacks / wagons. the material is canvas, very strong, water doesn't penetrate it and they keep the back area clear. These basically cover every square inch and they're custom for your car model & options.

They released the Ram 1500 one a few weeks ago so I ordered it - https://www.canvasback.com/dodge-ram-crew-14555.html

Here's the issue, the RAM 1500 Limited's carpet is too nice. The underseat carpet is the thick stuff so their velcro attaches to it like glue but the floor board carpet on my Limited and probably other models too isn't sticky at all and it's treated with Scotch guard from the factory. They send you this pamphlet:
Bolook2.jpeg

So we had to buy some mineral spirits from Home Depot. This part kind of sucks because you're basically stripping the scotch guard off your carpet and it took me about an hour. It's below freezing at my place so I ran the truck for an hour to get it hot enough inside, hair dried the carpet, applied the spirits then the rubbing alcohol then had to wait for it to dry then hair dry it again to get it nice and hot again. Then they give you these 3M velcro strips. I'll say this experience is pretty awful...where previous CanvasBack installs took 5 minutes, this took over an hour in the cold (I don't have a garage). As soon as I saw that pamphlet I should have returned them because while it's installed and it's doing okay, It's no where near as grippy and stuck on than if the bottom floor had the same underseat style of fabric that sticks to velcro.

Here's the final photo:

so as usual, it's a perfect fit and the dog is going to love it. I can even drop one or both seats independently or, with the exposed latches, I can put the floor mat back in there + a dog bed. It'll just keep all of the carpet..literally all exposed carpet is now completely covered so that's a win. If their adhesive strips hold up, I'll call it a win but if they peel back and fail, It'll be $300 wasted.

Looks like a nice cover, I really like the access to the floor storage and the rest of the versatility it offers. Are you going to add anything to cover the back of the front seats? Be sure to post a picture during testing!

We went the cheaper route but always leave the seats up due to our dog being a lot shorter, but I did have to also add the door protectors so she can stand on the armrest and look out the window. Longer trips we sometimes add some additional custom coverage but this is our general look for anything local.

I had the same setup as you but found it hard or just a pain when I had people need to sit in the back. I'd have to remove the dog bed entirely and pack it up for them to sit. With this setup, I can just drop one or both seats down and it's just a normal cab.

I'm going to return this though. I still can't get the stickers to properly stick to the floor carpets. I've been at it for 3 hours now. I tried putting together an instal video and it just ended up becoming a rant for 10 minutes so I need to let my blood pressure decrease and then ask Canvasback to initiate a return. I was really hoping this would work.

EDIT: I just asked for a return from Canvas back and ordered this - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08HBMD9S2?psc=1&smid=ACV8D5O17U4PX&ref_=chk_typ_imgToDp

I'm so frustrated that it didn't work out because their fitment is perfect but it wan't going to stay down.

Yeah I did really like that feature about the cover you were trying in terms of the flexibility in seating back there for passengers. Generally we either don't have a backseat passenger, or it's our daughter and we have a way of adjusting the cover to allow her to have the passenger side rear seat, while maintaining coverage of the middle and drivers side for the pup. It works but it takes some work too and could be better, but we do alright with it. Primary goal is keeping the seats/doors puke a drool free and so far we are winning that battle.

Sorry the one you were trying didn't work out, it did look quite nice comparatively in design and fit. The new one you ordered doesn't look too bad though, and covers the front seats while maintaining some rear passenger flexibility. I'll look forward to seeing how this one works out.

Canvas Back got back to me in 15 minutes of my email. They totally understood and said they’d do a full refund. They said all of the high end cars are using a Scotch Guard on the carpets now and that makes their Velcro not stick.

Solved my wireless charging issue, since I didn't get the Ramcharger, I bought a 10W wireless charger from Best buy for $15, used some 3M double sided tape and plugged it in to the outlet. It is .37 in thick and works well with my Samsung S21 so far, I did this for using Android Auto. I also solved the AA issue with not playing 'offline' music on Amazon music, you have to open Amazon music 1st before using on the uconnect screen. Hope this helps someone out there.

You can use Bixby routines, IFTTT, or maybe smartthings to auto launch amazon music when it connects to your trucks bluetooth (which normally happens before you can connect to AA. Then it would be ready for you when hook up to AA. I use Google assistant for everything (Bixby is a crap voice assistant) but the routine functions are nice. I use it for things like automatically turning up media volume when I connect to my kid's car's Bluetooth when I drive it.

And/or, make sure amazon is your default player and set your AA settings for auto resume media on launch.

I use spotify, so not positive this will fix your Amazon issues, but worth a shot.

Finally installed some white rock lights. I didn’t like the lights that came with the Amp steps and I really wanted something that lit up the ground more like a puddle light. Found a way to mount these so they shine on the ground and on the steps and they look 100% factory. Tapped the wires into the footwell light so they turn on when I unlock the truck or open the door. Pics make them seem bright and you can see the 4 individual lights, but in person you can’t tell it’s 4 lights & it really just looks like a high end factory option. Matches the brightness and color of the factory lights nearly spot on. Total cost $20. View attachment 113072 View attachment 113073
Do you have any pictures of how these are mounted? Want that exact look as the puddle lights are not sufficient. Are the 3m mounted above the power step? Thanks for your help.

I “blew the wad“ on this sexy mod! 😎
A little “Trinket” for my special girl.
Sometimes It’s the little understated things that just make her feel good!
(My wife calls my truck my mistress LOL)

Nice, just a heads up if they are aluminum.
I wouldn't want you to get caught in an uncompromising position with the "mistress".

Used it to haul a trailer load of lumber last week for the shed lean to. Decided to run through the car wash quick to rinse off the road grime. Found the spot where I was hit with a rock from an oncoming log truck. I thought it was a piece of bark at the time. I was wrong. Taking the trailer back over to Amish country tomorrow to pick up the metal roofing. The shed desperately needs re roofed and sided, too. But that won't be till spring.

I got hit by one a week or two ago also. Was also from oncoming traffic. I’ve been a rock magnet. Had one nick the hood once. I don’t know if PPF could’ve stopped the one last week. It hit hard on bottom bumper small dent and about 5 chips like that. I just used some touch up paint. Guess if I wanted it to stay perfect though I’d leave it inside and never drive

Today was oil change #4…squeaking it in under the 1-year interval with 16% oil life remaining. Opted for a Fram Ultra Synthetic filter this time, as Mobil 1 M1-113a was in short supply. PUP, as always. Just under 24K miles after 39 months. Fumoto valve still works perfectly. Oil Udder was only 50% successful.

Doing my oil tomorrow, with Wix 57060XP filter, along with some Rough Country Dual LED grill lights, should be a long fun day. Can't wait for it to be done already. Fumoto valve FTW. (y)

Udder just doesn’t fit well in that (tiny) space, such that it’s compressed and ineffective once you get the filter unscrewed. It worked for the initial drip, but so does a plastic bag. It just didn’t catch half of the oil that came out after the filter detached.

Thanks for the info, I have the oil udder but have not used it yet.
