So I know that you all are gonna LOVE this…

A dealer on the TRX forum just posted up some POCs for a few 2022 orders he’s made - he’s trying to sell them.
One of them is already in D1 status. It was ordered on 8/6, with a VIN of 150720.
So…I’m totally confused. This means that Sold Orders are NOT taking precedence over Dealer Orders. And I don’t know why this truck is being gatelined over trucks that were ordered 3 months earlier.

Edit: the dealer just responded that this was a sold order that the buyer backed out of. That helps partially explain it, but not the fact that it’s an August order (over May/June/July orders). It appears to be a bare-bones TRX, so perhaps it’s not as affected by the shortage.

I have a sneaking suspicion that within reason they're going to produce the "trophy trucks" and higher-margin units first pending availability of components. More $$ faster in the coffers before buyers bail and switch to other options. Business 101. All vehicle manufacturers make a LOT more margin on the higher-spec'ed units than the "mainline" trims.

I'd bet Chevy and Ford are making the same moves. I noticed some of the MY22 Super Duties are hitting already despite the debacle of 1000's of trucks rotting in outside storage and they appear to be high-spec units overall.....

Aside from this I'm very curious how the model mix nationwide/worldwide compares from the matrix @triple_B created vs. RAM's mix as an entirety...

Just saw a post from someone with access to Stellantis’ supplier schedule. This person says that 9/10 is the newly-set start for 2022 production (in light of the shutdown next week).

Im a little off topic here, and this is a distraction from the D1 updates filtering through, BUT…..

I and I believe a lot of the people in this thread have orders through MD down in Lake Charles.

It looks like hurricane Ida has them in the crosshairs, so if you have an order through MD and have appreciated the help and email updates, it wouldn’t hurt to reach out to Sandi and the crew and let them know they are in your thoughts.

Ask him to define “entered the production line”. Do you have a Build Sheet?

Build sheet won’t show up until its complete. Most get window sticker and build sheet on the same day.

Just got off Ram chat and got the following response: “I am thrilled to let you know that your vehicle is in scheduling for final assembly! Congratulations! We lack an ETA at this time but please keep in touch with us for the very latest”.

I assume that is D1 as it’s different from the usual “gathering parts” response.

Just got this too. I asked if that meant parts were still being gathered and was told, yes we’re working on it. So they are getting crafty!

Hello everyone. I've been lurking on this thread for quite sometime now, because it's very informative. I ordered my new 1500 BH on July 9th. I saw a lot of people that had ordered this month and already had vins. My dealer hasn't been the most informative so I finally did the ram chat. I was kind of surprised that I am still on C status. A little bit of a bummer rbut oh well I guess. I know they don't just pick the truck to build at random but it feels like it sometimes.

July 10th I order my Laramie GT, it was D status then went to C today. I'm seeing a bit of a trend of C status.
Side note if I were you I would contact your dealer and be very stern. You should be able to get this info from your dealer not the ram chat.

I'm curious. So if its in assembly, and they take a 1 week break for labor day, does it sit on the line, until they get back, or just finish what is on the line?

In late summer of 1996, I ordered a factory-built 1997 Chevy K1500 “Z-71” 3rd door pickup. It was the newest coolest truck out there - everything I could have asked for. I believe it was $35k (got $500 over invoice).
Then the effin’ Union decided to go on strike. My truck was stopped in the middle of production, and sat for weeks on the factory floor. Finally got built, and I took delivery. It turned out to be the biggest POS I ever bought. Like a Monday truck and a Friday truck had a baby.
