2022 Orders

I implore you all to not listen to me. I've done enough damage to everyone's karma over the past 10 pages of this thread.
Ok, I should clarify. I think you hit the nail on the head as far as grouping with the 6’-4” bed. TRX’s have a short bed but they are unique so it makes sense that they are grouped together and issued a D1 status around the same time. Regardless of VIN.

Maybe the shut down next week is a good thing. Maybe they're using the time to do PM's on equipment, stock up on some microchips, schedule 22 builds so they can full speed when they start up on the 7th. Wouldn't that be nice!

I guess really we're not doing too bad. We've only had (2) 1 week shut downs due to chip shortages I believe
Which plant is shutting down

The unemployment line caught my eye. Doesn’t that imply it’s going to be longer than the 8 days?
Which plant is shutting down
It’s SHAP that is shutting down (Sterling Heights) - they make our DT trucks.

When SHAP had the 1-week shut down in July for parts shortages, they had the same memos to employees about unemployment. I guess it’s a standard thing there - plant shuts down for a week, everybody gets unemployment for a week.

Agree. I think a week shut down triggers unemployment eligibility in most cases. Question: Do we know if SHAP has an annual shutdown for labor day period? Or is this unique to chip shortage?

This is an unexpected shutdown. They have holidays, but the only planned week-long shutdown is in July.

Realizing suddenly that Ive never known more about how, where, how long it takes, and the intimate details of the employment status of the people and process of building a product which I’ll be purchasing, than I do about this dumb (don’t listen to me sweetie, I don’t mean it) truck. It’s crazy. And all thanks to you similarly-neurotic weirdos (said with affection)! I love it!

Here's an update on the tracker, with some new additions (@Unbeatenfiddle, @BAJAN55, @SunnyS, @Calileta). I updated the start-of-production date by one day (from 9/6 to 9/7), but it's not looking like that will happen now. For those who haven't followed all of the news, SHAP is shutting down next week (8/30-9/4) due to parts shortages. When they resume production on 9/7, it is highly likely that they'll still have 2021 models to finish.

For those who are closely studying the chart, you'll also notice that there are some new dots. I'm temporarily putting in the "D1" dates for those who have reported it. I probably won't do this for long (it will make things too busy). But for now, as we are all trying to see what Ram is thinking, I thought it would be beneficial. One of the problems with using D1 dates is that they're not reported reliably. By that, I mean there's no "official" date that can be found - it's just word-of-mouth from your dealer...so the date that you're told you went into D1 isn't necessarily the date that it happened.

Last note. I hope everyone realizes that this tracker is a crowd-sourced project. All of the information I'm showing comes from you. The more information that I can get (from you), the better this tracker is. So I encourage everyone to share the information you have - it makes us all smarter.

Dealer just called me, he saw movement in my status this morning,
I'm in C status now (was D) but I feel like that is backwards if I read the previous post on codes C is before D then D1 is after that correct?

C is “tentative schedule”, whereas D is “firm schedule; number is assigned”. As you have probably figured out by now, “firm schedule” doesn’t really mean anything.
But I’m curious as to what C really means, as far as your order is concerned. Perhaps there’s a part missing, and they’re not sure when they’ll get it? You’ve got a GT coming, so that sounds problematic. On the other hand, we have heard a report of a possible D1 status for a Rebel GT.
Your dealer will probably have to ask his rep what the issue is.

Edit: I just saw a report on the TRX forum of the same thing (moving to C).

My dealer just called to tell me the same thing. My 10th Ann Limited just went D to C. They’re not sure what it means and will call their rep on Monday.
Sales rep did say her Jeep also did the same thing and they thought it was bad, but then it ran thru all the other statuses the next few days and was delivered soon after.

You would think Ram marketing would at least update the website ramtrucks.com to 2022 models so we could play with it while we await production of our long overdue builds.
I've continuously hammered the popup survery on the RamTrucks.com website to this effect. It's moot to have the MY21 B&P anymore as the ability to order one died quite some time ago. I realize the packaging is in flux right now but at least post some high-level information, new options such as UConnect 5 and Trailer Hitch Light, etc. Some better gallery shots of GT, BackCountry, and 10th Anniversary. Give us SOMETHING to chew on in the meantime!!

Interesting…maybe that means it’s in the waiting room for D1.

So I know that you all are gonna LOVE this…

A dealer on the TRX forum just posted up some POCs for a few 2022 orders he’s made - he’s trying to sell them.
One of them is already in D1 status. It was ordered on 8/6, with a VIN of 150720.
So…I’m totally confused. This means that Sold Orders are NOT taking precedence over Dealer Orders. And I don’t know why this truck is being gatelined over trucks that were ordered 3 months earlier.

Edit: the dealer just responded that this was a sold order that the buyer backed out of. That helps partially explain it, but not the fact that it’s an August order (over May/June/July orders). It appears to be a bare-bones TRX, so perhaps it’s not as affected by the shortage.

Deal just confirmed he had 3 other trucks go from D to C...

Just a little tidbit to consider-I could be completely wrong but there's some logic here-Once the ball starts rolling we MIGHT get some of these trucks sooner than expected. I think the VIN assignment/sequence number comes from the "bucket" of all flavors of RAM trucks, not just SHAP produced units. (SHAP, Warren, and Saltillo) My logic is this: SHAP total capacity is ~6000-6500 units per week. If you multiply that times ~50 weeks of production the maximum they can roll out of that plant is ~325,000 DT series trucks annually as SHAP is the only plant that produces them. I just saw a MY21 TRX advertised at the dealership I ordered my truck from and it ends in 905651. Since VIN numbers start out with 100,000 that leaves 805,651 and there have NOT been that many DT trucks built for MY21.

Again, I have NO access to proprietary information and I could be all wet on this but I don't see how it could be any other way. This could also help explain some of the "jumps" in VIN #'s in the graph @Eighty has graciously compiled for the rest of us to ponder......

Where are the new pictures of the GT

Correct, they don’t build 800,000 units at SHAP. But the VIN sequences are unique to each plant. At certain points, they jump up to new series of numbers, but I don’t know why.
I’ve spent a fair amount of time searching online, and have found many VINs that fill the missing gaps (dealer listings). So there are trucks in there. Further, @triple_B has uncovered every VIN issued in the 2022 DT line. There are definitely ~70,000 DT trucks in the pipeline right now.
