Last summer (at the end) they replaced the USB hub and it seemed to work. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago when the temps started getting over 110 (Phoenix) and the issue popped up again. Took it back into the shop (had a list of issues) and they are going to replace the USB hub again. I told them they already did that but it seems useless talking to these guys.

Hello Dmalonecentral --

I've been having this problem since 2020 (picked up my '19 Power Wagon in late August 19), but have really been focusing in on it in the past couple of months. I'm a little relieved I'm not the only one experiencing this, and like you, my dealership experience has been less than ideal as well. I usually end up leaving the dealership with a "there's no available software update", or "we've tested it and can't find the problem". It is consistently not working when the truck is outside resting in 105°+, so I really don't get how that can't be duplicated at the shop. I'm in Phoenix as well - which dealership do you use? (I'm frequenting the Tempe RAM dealer)

I logged on today to figure out how to get a hold of the RAMcares team again. I love my truck, and I really dig the radio, but the CarPlay feature (90% of radio use) has been buggy as all get out since owning the truck. Has anyone else found a fix for this?

Grabbed a $6 USB tester off Amazon, and took some pictures for submittal to the dealership. Got some good help today at the dealership, showed them the pics, and the media hub was tested and replaced under warranty. The part number for those folks out of warranty is a 68272254AE Media Hub, and it looks like I can grab it online for $35. It also looks like something I could replace myself fairly easily if I wanted to save a buck. Drove home in 110° heat with no issues.

Realistically how difficult would it be to replace the usb media hub oneself? I don’t want to risk going to the dealer and having them cause other issues while it’s there.

Please let us know via private message if you decide to have your dealer look into this. We would like to have this documented and have a case escalated on your behalf so a Case Specialist can work with your dealer to help find a potential solution.

I have the same issue sometimes as well. Noticed it when we got over 98 here. The USB wasnt charging nor would it recognize a device plugged in. Both front one's did it.

My Media Hub has been replaced twice now. Last one was a month or so ago. Still not working in high heat. It seems they have no idea what is causing it. If the hub were “fried” as they stated then it would not work at all.

Haven’t been logging in here lately but I have been going to Tempe Ram as well since it’s closest to my house. They replaced the hub about a month ago and it still doesn’t work if it’s hot outside. Sun shade helps some but on a day like today it still doesn’t matter. I literally just called them to make an appointment and figured I’d hop on here to see if there has been a permanent solution again.

I had this problem a couple of weeks ago on 90 degree weather. USB wouldn’t recognize my phone or charge. Drove for 30 min, left the truck parked in the shade for 2 hours. Went back and tried CarPlay and it worked. Seems to be heat related to me.

Is there a fix?

Yes I've been having this issue too. I also live in the Phoenix area. I just got my USB Hub replaced this past Just and the problem has already popped up but it starts working after about five minute or so. This is my first and last RAM.

I can say for sure that it’s definitely heat related. Living in MT I don’t really have the issues with heat some of you guys do; that is until this summers record heat wave. I’ve had my truck for a little over two years with no issues until this summer. Anytime the truck sits in the sun for a few hours over 100 degrees out the Apple CarPlay will quit working until I’m able to cool off the interior. Since there seems to be no solution to the issue I’m looking at ceramic tinting the windows and sun roof to try and keep the heat down to begin with. May be an effort in futility though. At least tinted windows always look good 👍🏼

Ceramic tent makes a huge difference. I have the sunroof windows and a 5% brow. With the sunscreen up it works 100% of the time with remote start.

Won’t make a difference. Mine has been replaced twice.

That sux. When the fronts don’t work the back ones and the center console ones still work. Wish there was something we could do

any day i leave the truck out of the garage it takes 30 min for the truck to cool down enough to allow it to come back on, the media hub is temp sensitive, many people i see with the issue are in hot areas were its 110+ outside and the interior of the car when sitting out all day can be up to 150 inside.

even with sunshades it helps but on really hot days its just not enough. This is the first vehicle Ive ever had this issue with.

I need to finish my Ranger rock crawler that's taking up space in my garage and can park in there again just in time for fall and this not be an issue any more

My truck stays outside at work for at least 9 hours. Not sure if shades would help
