Is it possible to add Blind Spot?

Ouch, I just got my 2021 RAM 2500 Laramie with Safety Group "B", thought for sure it had BSM, sounds like I fell into the part shortage shaft too. What are the parts I will need for a 2021 to add the BSM, sounds like they are different for 2021. Thanks in advance.

You would need

2 of this housing 5-2138650-1 and 4 receptacle tabs 5-963715-1 along with some twisted pair wire for the can bus. I have all this and can make this side.

What I still need to identify is the pins for this side of the harness under the drivers seat. Pins 39 to 42 that need plugged in.

When I have time I will take it apart again and try to identify the pins. I can build harnesses and make instructions on how to install them. This allows for the missing wiring for the rear sensors in the tail lights.
how can I contact you to buy the wiring? I have a 2020 2500

Yes. It’s the same process. You need the tail light jumper harnesses (or at least check your existing ones to see if they are already the right ones), and the missing section of canbus wires going to the can IHS block- except the HDs, the wires don’t go from the connector under the seat, but from the one behind the front driver side wheel well. If you have tow mirrors, you can just swap the glass out for the glass that has the indicators. You can’t use 2019 tail lights BSM part numbers on you 2020 HD, you must use 2020+ sensors, or 2020+ tail lights with sensors. I can build you the harnesses for the mirror glass, and the canbus harness if you need.
How do I buy the canbus wiring and mirror wiring from you. I have 2020 2500HD

Added small amber LED lights for the blind spot indicators. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AF5THE...abc_HW4NVSB095CSHDY8W45V?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Pinned the LED to C1 connector (the "B" location on door module) to pin7 (+) and had to tap existing wire in pin5 (-) ground. Works good.
Are you sure you connect it to section “B” of door module? Jimmy07 says it must be section “A”:
Post #161:
On the “A” connector of the door module (black connector if I remember right), it is pin 7 for the positive, and pin 5 for the ground. Pin 5 might have to be tapped, depending what options the current mirrors have.

Yep. That is what I did on my 2020 1500 DT. I didn't take a picture but relatively certain it was "B". Just find the connector with these colored wires on the circuits and that is the connector you need to pin and/or tap. Screenshot_20210801-130502_Google.jpg

Thanks! I'm going to do it soon too.

Has anyone thought about how to make the missing pins of the XY400 connector on their own? As I understand from the side of the cabin are male contacts, what if you just insert little thin steel plates in their place and connect the wires? Just not disassembling the connector.
I also want to ask, if to the CAN Bus are connected in parallel in the Hub, why make a cable of 4 wires, if you can splice them immediately in the connector or under the cab and run only 2 wires?

I offer the missing section of canbus wires that use the correct terminals to insert into the xy400 connector.
It’s because of the termination resistance at each port for each module on the junction block that you shouldn’t “chain” module canbus wires together.

I'm going to try doing this to my truck in a few months. That's all I think it's missing apart of the auto folding mirrors when you lock the vehicle, but I don't think that is possible.

Thank you, but I live in Russia and international shipping will cost me too much.

Thank you, guys for this thread, i just finished this mod and it works well! Now I'll tell you how I made the missing wire from the XY400 connector, did not want to drill the bottom and just made the missed pins myself from a suitable wire and inserted them into the necessary slots. To do this, you must first pull out the blue seal plugs with any sharp object, then insert the needle with force and measure the depth (it’s about 4cm length), and make homemade contacts from wire or conductive metal. I just soldered them to the wires from the CAN BUS hub and, using pliers, inserted them into the empty sockets of the connector. Today I checked it on the road, everything works. I think this is the easiest way to make this missing cable, without drilling and disassembling the connector.

Awesome work. I planned on doing the same. I work in the automotive industry and I've seen those contacts and the blue seal plugs that you popped off. I just need to try to remember the part numbers. They MFR will probably be TE for those. Again great job!

I’m not sure you could insert factory contacts without completely disassembling the connector, they are shorter then i made, but maybe provide better contact. But if you make contacts by yourself, with enough lenght, you can just insert it from the cabin without even uninstall the connector, very easy.

I've seen some of those automotive contacts that are over and inch and a half so I would think they would work. I'll grab a few next time I'm visiting the plant and see if they will work. Just curiosity now :D

Then let us know the part number of contacts, if you find, it will be most right way to make the harness!

I posted the terminal part numbers for that connector a while back, with info on the XY400 connector. https://5thgenrams.com/community/threads/is-it-possible-to-add-blind-spot.13516/post-308765
