Nice. Do you have some type of slider?
If you are talking about the hitch, no. I us an Andersen Ultimate and B&W in bed turnover ball. Have it setup to get the pin weight in front of the axle, and with the aero front on the trailer have had no problems with turns. I can't do a full 90 turn as I could with a slider, but have had no need to.

This was our rig at the top of Vail Pass west of Frisco a few weeks ago. Did fine going over a few 10K+ grades.

Bit off topic but what wheels and tires are those? Love the look.

Awesome, did you happen to record/note your temps (mainly oil + transmission) and what RPMs were you at while climbing?

Mesa Ridge MR2504BH, love the floor plan of this one! 29’ ball to bumper but the ProPride adds a foot more than my original WDH, the gen boxes another foot, bike racks, etc. 6900-7200# total, typically 7100 full up. We roll with 5.5kW battery bank, inverter, solar and dual gens, so it’s a bit heavy. Tongue weight adjusts between 830 and 1080 - I love how easy the ProPride makes it to adjust WD.

PS - put a Truma AquaGo continuous hot water heater in this camper - seriously improved our quality of life!

Truck pulls well, air susp and MFT make this rig easy to use. Average 9-10mpg running at the speed limit. Only things I would change are engine oil cooler (want bigger) and a firmer setting for rear (besides of course, more payload). May look into a front hitch...

Thanks! Those are the Black Rhino Chase wheels, 18". I chose those as a good balance of spokes and some off-road look (to me at least). Shout-out to America's Tire (Discount Tire) as there were nubs on the front brake calipers that very slightly touched the rim, and they ground them off. Maybe 2 mm tall, about 5mm wide and 10mm long. Looks like a casting artifact. These wheels are more flat on the inside where the OEM rims taper wider toward the inside of the wheel and provide more clearance. Good to look at if you are going for 18" wheels.

I chose 18" wheels because there are more LT tire options in that size than 20", for example. I wanted to run the Michelin Defender LTX M/S tires since I'm 99% highway driving / towing (and I slid through a red light in snow on the Goodyear OEM's that were wearing fast).

I don't, unfortunately. I do watch the temps closely and nothing was out of normal, which for me is around 215-25 coolant / 195-205 transmission / 220-50 oil when going up grades. I put some other temps in this thread about overheating.

Looks great! What are / where did you find the metal storage boxes on the back and did you have to add support for them?

Thx!

The gen boxes are Buyers 1705100 aluminum Underbody Truck boxes, got from Zorro when on sale and with discount code. American made, quality stuff, not cheap or flimsy imported junk. They fit Honda eu2200 and similar very well. Used boat hatches for exh vent and electrical access.

Made a couple 5/16” steel brackets, to fit tightly around the bumper, and bolt onto the trailer frame C channel that runs laterally at the back between the frame I beams.

Blakei, nice setup. Do you have airbags to keep your 1500 level, or did the WDH setup assist with this? I have what I'm sure is a lot less tongue weight that you have on your 288BHS, but had wasn't levelled out like you are.

Yes, I use Timber Grove airbags. Great quality construction and I recommend them. I especially like that they aren't inside the spring as I've had to take them out a couple of times (to avoid any dealer issue for some warranty work).

My truck squats if I step into the bed. The springs give a great ride but they are soft. I probably lose 2" of height when I hitch up (and WDH adjusted properly per CAT scaled weights) so I use the airbags to bring it back toward level. For me that is about 20PSI - the bags will go up to 50PSI for loads IIRC.

Even better than leveling, though, is the airbags really firm up the squish of the rear suspension, so for towing control on bumps, curves, bridges etc the rig is way more stable. I'd run them for this benefit alone.

Interested in this Truma AquaGo hot water heater. How does it install? I've had to replace some weird fuse looking thing on mine already and its very limited on hot water.

R-pod 178 Averaged about 12mpg on an 800 mile trip (about 5mpg's lower than when not towing). This is a new truck with 2,000 miles on the odometer and reading the manual it stated the following-
CAUTION:
  • Do not tow a trailer at all during the first 500 miles (805 km) the new vehicle is driven. The engine, axle or other parts could be damaged.
  • Then, during the first 500 miles (805 km) that a trailer is towed, do not drive over 50 mph (80 km/h) and do not make starts at full throttle. This helps the engine and other parts of the vehicle wear in at the heavier loads.
I was in compliance with the 1st but the 2nd point is pretty difficult to follow when traveling on the interstate. I went smooth and easy of acceleration and stops and stayed at or under 60mph for the trip and was driving in one of the flattest places on earth so am not concerned! The integrated trailer brake controller worked awesome.
