So all parts came in today including @Jimmy07 custom harness which is super nice. I will be towing this weekend but don't have time to get everything done to get a true run. I did however install the rear custom harness and the rear sensor. There are holes in that location in the diagram earlier posted that line up with the sensor and I used that spot. They are just holes with no threads so zipties in the meantime will do or be permanent. I'll have to get to the cab module and find where that goes later next week.

Here are some current pics.

IMG_3346.jpg

This spot is located behind the bumper area at the right side of where the license plate is. The top two holes were a perfect match for the sensor.
IMG_3344.jpg

Got the main harness down and opened it up.
IMG_3348.jpg IMG_3349.jpg

Removed the plugs and inserted the wires from the custom harness in their position. I already had a wire in spot 16 so I was informed to place that one in the 35 spot.
IMG_3350.jpg IMG_3351.jpg

Back to factory look except for the new harness coming from it.
IMG_3353.jpg

Sensor strapped in position with new harness connector.

Excess wire zip tied up.

I've finally got around to getting my trailer out of storage and getting the tpms sensors installed to finish the install. Got it all up and running. But be warned the instructions in the manual to pair the sensors are ineffective and did not work for me. The instructions said let 5psi out and wait up to three minutes. This did not work at all it never found the sensors, even when letting out 10 psi. What worked for me was airing the tires up to max pressure so you have plenty of air to work with beforehand. When the uconnect tells you to start pairing the tire, i let air out of the tire continuously for 20 seconds, waited about 10, then let more out for about 15 more seconds and it registered. I was able to duplicate these results several times. Paired every time this way. I also had the engine running and trailer harness hooked up.

Continuing from post #41, I did get the cab module installed in time for last weekends trailer event. Pics of that are posted below.
I did in fact have the same exact issue as @pcar had while trying to get the sensors to pair and I tried every which way except of course how he finally got his connected so until I go back to where the trailer is stored, mine aren't connected to the truck. Best result I got was the first sensor connecting but not the others and timing out otherwise but at least I know it 'will' work. Until further notice.......

This is the cab module installed looking down from the rear window area center of truck. The module is just sitting there and the new wire harness plugs into the connection point that the dummy plug harness used to.

IMG_3376.jpg

In retrospect, I probably could have done this install from the bottom but I'll leave that up to whomever wants to try. In this pic all I did was move the back interior shielding out of the way looking for the connection point before I knew what I was looking for. This is a shot of that area, cab floor center showing the connector and the stock harness that went to the dummy plug.

IMG_3371.jpg

Here is a better pic after the module was connected with the new harness. The dummy plug and stock harness are still sitting there (not seen) but can be removed if you desire.

IMG_3377.jpg

And a reference shot of the floor/back wall area before pulling the interior shielding away.

IMG_3378.jpg

First sensor connected (as far as I could get) until I try pcar's way. Apparently my screen is dusty......didn't look like that in person.

@Jimmy07 - excellent work on the harness. Worked great. I had to use pin #35 instead of #16 as well.

@db252 - GREAT pics and information.

I had to order another 4 pack of sensors to get the two extras. Taking the trailer to the tire shop tomorrow to get the sensors installed. Appreciate the programming tips. 4/16 Update - pairing very simple and worked per the infotainment instructions. Most tires paired (evidence by the horn) within 2 seconds of the 5 second air release. A few took 10-15 seconds after the 5 second release before the horn would sound.

If anybody needs two brand new sensors from the 2nd 4-pack send a PM. I'll post in the classifieds soon as well.

@Jimmy07 I am ordering the AlphaOBD in the next few days with a bypass. I have a 19 Larmie, optioned out with everything but bed lighting. It was built in 18. Since it looks like no one has tested enabling the options for the Trailer TPMS. I will get you feed back as soon as I get the part to enable it. I have a few more questions about options and you seem to be very knowledgeable on the wiring schematic of the truck so I'll send you a PM about the other items as they don't apply to this discussion thread.

So I finally got my SGW, OBDLink, and Desktop AlphaOBD, version available to download was 2.2.9.0.

Body computer: DT MY2019 PowerNet Var.3 would always auto default to being selected when connected. I was able to select the other configurations, but it would not keep any other BCM configuration. All options were able to be selected.

DT MY2019 PowerNet Var.3. configuration does not have any of the Trailer TPMS options, VehConfig 8-Trailer TPM present and P/T Chassis Net-TTPM Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring. With Var.4 and 2020+ configurations it was selectable.

Any work arounds to force the AlphaOBD to allow me to use a different configuration. I was going to do a Model Year change but doubt that will do it.

Go ahead and let it connect to whatever body computer it defaults to. Then click the advanced mode tab. Drop down the list of body computers again, and click on DT MY2020. Do NOT click connect again. Click on active diagnostics tab up top. Select car configuration change, then you’ll find the settings.

@Jimmy07 thanks those steps worked as advertised. I was able to select the changes with DT 2019 Var 4. It immediately did not give me the displays, only my brake controller. Within the read ID it did update the settings. I'll give it until the am, and check it tomorrow.

@parnine @Jimmy07
No Luck -

My Build Date is Oct 2018
BCM: 68287182AG
Radio: CNSC28N0GL
Radio Software: 18.45.40
Application Version: USA-SBX-12.1-NR28.1.0-20181108-N0G1

I am not sure if it is the BCM or Radio Software (18.45.40). I am going to see if the dealer can push the newer software as I have seen it is above 18.45.40 on this posting https://5thgenrams.com/community/th...on-19-33-11-new-update-19-43-1a.16008/page-36
I am willing to go down the new BCM route, if that is the only additional item needed (on top of the Trailer TPMS).

Attached is the log to verify.

BCM Options are
2019 - 68287182AH (Mine is G version) * would this be Var 4 that AlphaOBD References? Which does have the Trailer TPMS options*
2020 - 68444252AH

I just went thru all this. Just waiting to get my trailer out of storage to get the tpms sensors installed to confirm once and for all its up and running. I've got all the menus on my evic and uconnect screen. It took overnight before the configurable options showed up on the uconnect screen.

Part numbers:
68493608AA - Gateway Module Trailer tire pressure monitoring sys. interface
68412666AA - Jumper Cable for TIM Module
68375990AC - Wireless Control Reciever
I had Jimmy007 on this forum make me a harness to pug into the rear harness as i did not have the plug for the wireless receiver.
68433188AA - TPMS Sensor Kit (4)

Alfa OBD
1. VehConfig 8: Trailer TPM Present, Set this to enable
2. P/T Chasis Net: TTPM Trailer Tire Pressure monitoring, Set this to enable

I'm about to order the modules, trying to find the best price on them right now. On all the websites the 68412666AA jumper cable for the TIM comes up for a 2500, says it doesn't fit the 1500....but I'm assuming it's the correct part based on what everyone is saying on this thread, just wanted to doublecheck this is the jumper everyone is using for the 1500. Thanks in advance.

Curious, did you need a pin removal tool to get those plugs out? Just trying to figure out if I need to buy the tool before I start into this....

Just to confirm, the settings in the BCM for a 2019 RAM do not show up, even when enabled.

Not at all, they just get pushed out. No pin removal tool is needed as long as you don’t put one of the wires in the wrong spot.
