I live in SoCal and curious about buying a new truck from out of state.
How much are you paying to get it shipped over?
Does the out-of-state dealership handle all the paperwork to get it registered in Cali?
What about out-of-state RAMs and CARB compliance?
That's it for my questions ;)
Skipping is 1200 to LA. I believe they're taking care of the paperwork to get it registered. I think CARBs only applies to heavy duty, right? I don't think 1500s are considered heavy duty.

Last 5-10 pages will tell you a bunch of stuff. Also read Silent Bobs post that he put together.
I went through the last few pages and contacted one of the dealerships Silent Bob recommended. It's beginning to seem less of a good deal after hearing what other people are getting.

@Howie Dub I live in California, and purchased my 1500 in Colorado last summer. I didn’t have it shipped, so can’t help you there, but I can try to help with the steps of registering an out of state new vehicle in California.

First, theses trucks are 50-state compliant as far as emissions go. However, California will make you smog it in order to get it registered. You will also have to get it weighed at a certified scale and bring that documentation with you to the DMV.

There’s one DMV form (REG-343) you have to fill out. Once you take everything to the DMV they’ll also conduct an inspection of the vehicle (making sure the VIN matches, they’ll look under the hood at the emissions sticker, etc.)

When all said and done, it was a fairly easy and straightforward process. I did my homework ahead of time to see what all needed to be done so there weren’t any surprises. They only thing that sucked was having to spend pretty much an entire day at the DMV office to get this completed due to extremely long wait times due to COVID.

Hi everyone! Looking to get a Ram 1500 Limited. Wanted to see if this was a good deal.

MSRP $78,985
with 0% financing $69,235
conventional financing $67,985

I'm in CA and it's better than any of the deals I can find around here. What do you guys think? Thanks!

Like others have said...you can do better.

But. (And it could be a big but...)
How important is your local dealership to you? That may make a difference.
How much is your time (to haggle) worth?
How much effort do you want to put into it?
How much is your time (to fly and drive) worth?
How much is shipping (if you don't want to fly and drive) worth?

To me...it was WELL WORTH the effort to do better. I got a 21% below MSRP by dealing with Phillip Olson at Bud Clary, Seattle.
(Price includes rebates and coupons, etc. Your mileage may vary, etc., etc.)

From what I'm reading here, a lot of local dealers are no longer offering much, if any, off MSRP. Supply and demand seems to be favoring the seller right now.

So, you may do better. You certainly could have done worse.

Absolutely, I figured the minimum I would keep my truck is 3 years. So in my particular case, at 3 years I would save about $3,000 in interest (out of the $4,000 overall) vs the $1250 rebate. I don't see that rebate increasing much if at all so more than likely I will be sticking with the 0%. Very good point regarding planned length of ownership, and important to take that into consideration as well.
I'm also willing to bet you will owe less on your Ram after 3 years with 0%.

Well, ended up ordering my limited. MSRP was $74,940. Sale price ended up being $61,711 with fees without Penfed or Ram coupon. Hoping that when I go to pick it up the rebates will end up being better, get the penfed and coupon added and I'll end up somewhere between the 20-23% discount I was hoping for. Big thanks to everyone in this thread.
Be careful, I dont think that they Ram coupon and Penfed are stackable. You can only use one of those. You can however use the TreadLightly discount too.

Great point! Yes, after even 2.5 years of ownership I would be a little ahead on amount owed with 0%, and even more so at 3 years and beyond. Excellent point!

Thank you for the heads up. Didn't know I had to go through all that for an out-of-state vehicle.

I just spoke to a dealer in TN, for an in stock Rebel. He says they aren't selling anything below sticker. So MSRP - rebates and there is no vehicles coming in for 3 months. I know it's short supply BUT I have bought and sold many over the 30+ years of my life but this is nuts. So is the group saying dealers are discounting in stock units heavily?

If he's doing 0% for 72 months, all he'd get were the dealer discounts and no rebates so 11% off is about right. He maybe able to push 13% but he's not going to see 15+% off you'd normally expect if he takes the 0% financing
I got 16.7% off, AND 0%. Some guys have gotten even better with Mark Dodge, LA.

IDK, night edition seems like a fad that will pass with time, like body color wheels did. You can always night edition a truck, adding the sunroof or the tailgate is a "bit" more work. I wouldn't be surprised if night edition or blacked out is played out in 3 or so years which will be the inverse of what the dealer is saying/thinking now
And then what...back to chrome?! No thanks. Chrome has been an appearance feature for all of our lives, and longer. But black won't last more than a few years?

But really, there's other possibilities beyond chrome, such body color grills and bumpers (which are an option), or perhaps brushed/satin metal. I'm surprised that hasn't been a trend, considering how popular brushed and satin metal finishes are inside the home, especially appliances, plumbing, and lighting fixtures. Maybe it doesn't hold up well on exterior surfaces.

Body colored bumpers have been an option for a long time. For example, on my 2001 Dakota, the Sport Edition had body colored bumpers, door handles and grill. The SLT model had chrome. And this is an option for Rams too.

I REALLY like the idea of brushed / satin metal! Or even black chrome. I can't believe matte paint hasn't trended.

I just told Aaron I was a friend of Adam Chandler. He then gave me a deal on a Laramie built I gave him that almost as good as Adams deal. It should be coming in next month. I feel like I'm cheating, Adam Chandler and Silent Bob do all the work and I just claimed them as friends. Then last week Aaron asked if I had room left in my garage that he had a new white Challenger R/T Scat Pack sitting on the lot. He then gave me 16.5% off MSRP and got me a $800 delivery fee for PA. That less than .60 a mile. Five days later the Challenger is in my garage

Aaron and Mark Dodge are definitely a needed anomaly, one of the few dealers with decent to good pricing and no games

Spoke to Aaron at length and he truly seems genuine in his pricing. Said there are less incentives now than at the beginning of the month and will be even less incentives later given the shortage of Limiteds, especially diesel ones. Silent Bob did say in one of his posts that April is one of the worst times to buy a car, so maybe that's to be expected. Got another $1000 off, which brings this to 6% under invoice. Seems good enough. Especially with the fact that he doesn't have any dealer add-ons, which one dealer I reached out to had $2300 worth of add-ons included. Thanks to everyone for helping.
