Looks Like I've Got The Dreaded Leak Also!

I was hoping, wishing, and performing sacred rituals in hopes that my 2020 didn't leak in the window area..... alas, I'm now a victim of it also. To say I'm "not happy" is an understatement at best. Looks like I'm about to walk down that long trail of jacking with a dealer to get this fixed.... but as others have experienced it may not be permanent. It only rained light rain today and the pics show what started. I may be taking the monetary loss and ditching this truck.

That looks like either the CHMSL or less likely the shark fin. Does not look like you have a crack in the window frame and can't see enough of the edge of the window to tell.

What other problems besides a leak to get ya to ditch the truck?

Thank you for the reply. Water intrusion is enough for me to ditch any vehicle if it can't be mitigated... especially a vehicle as expensive as these trucks. I will go through the process with the dealership. I will water test it to death afterwards. If it still leaks after the dealer fix I "might" give them one more chance. I've owned all of the big three as well as the imports in my lifetime and I've never had a water problem. There is absolutely no excuse for it and when it happens it can cause horrible damage.

Looks like the 3rd brake light seal which looks like an easy fix with new weatherstripping. It might just be the photo, but don't see the tell tale cracks in the window frame.

Well then don't buy a GM because they have the exact same leaking window problem with their 2019+'s

I thought I read somewhere that (believe it or not) it's actually the same supplier which is used for both Ram and GM and that supplier is the problem.

Yes looks like the CHSML leak. I replaced mine twice myself this last time about a year ago the third one seems to be holding. Had a terencial rain the other day went to check and all was dry.

The window surround is not cracked at this time. Although there are some who said they had the window leak with no crack visible. I'm hoping third brake light. Thank you for the reply.

Thank you for the reply. I think it is sad that ANY new truck owners are having to deal with water leaks no matter the make. There are 1980's truck still running around that never had a drop of water get inside. Embarrassing for the engineers at FCA as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry you had to do it twice! I'm hoping it is the CHSML and nothing more.

Just curious if your truck has the panoramic sun roof? I’ve been keeping a eye on mine I don’t have a sunroof and don’t really use the slider.

I don't think its the window surround or the CHML, IMO its the shark fin.
I've sealed my CHML and still have a leak

No sunroof and I barely use my slider in fear of the window surround crack happening.

I'll check into the shark fin also. It's too bad that any of us are dealing with this. Thank you for the reply.

Guys, you know what really chaps my hide? That this is still an issue in a 2020 truck.
I’d understand if this were just happening when the 2019s rolled off the line. Sometimes they have to tweak and adjust, on a brand new redesign, but to have 2020 and even 2021 trucks that are still leaving the factory with frigging leaks, is inexcusable. There’s absolutely zero reasons for this to still be happening. Sheesh!
</End Rant>

Cheers,

In general rain or washing the truck, I have no leaks since sealing the CHMSL. However, when Texas had snowmagedden a fews ago, I had 6" of snow on the roof.
As it sat and melted off that Saturday, I noticed my headliner was again wet. I believe water from the snow melting on the roof found its way in through an unsealed opening in the shark fin.
The headliner leak stains are too high (above the window) for the window surround crack, leak issue to be the cause and if you've sealed the CHMSL, that only leaves the shark fin.

I do have the pano but I have washed this truck and driven in too much rain with no pano leaks anywhere for me to believe that it's the source. My money is on the shark fin and I may drop the headliner tomorrow and seal it

As with all of us dealing with water leaks, I wish you the best of luck in finding the source.
