Anyone running the Uniden R7 in their Gen 5?

WOW! If it keeps dropping I may have to buy another one just for the he** of it 😂
I know...
While I like what I see, I am still waiting to see if Radenso's Theia ever launches. If not, the Redline 360 is my second choice. Looks more polished and user friendly than the R7 (albeit quite more expensive).

Currently have a prior gen V1, which while still good, the BSMs are pretty annoying. Also, having to have the phone to do lockouts is not my first choice.

@frostymug bought the V1G2 and then the Redline and ended up liking the R7 the most. I'll let him share his thoughts. I, too, remain very interested in the Theia. However, if it ever does come to market, it will, most likely, be north of the Escort Redline and now that the R7 has had the update, this thing is AWESOME and sometimes I wonder if its even working it's so quiet!!!!!

Ahh. Good to know! Was wondering about that since Vortex was saying that the lockouts still needed work since it was hit or miss.

I've always, always been a fan of having my RD up high on the headliner and just to the left of the RVM for better radar detection, to easily reach it, and to keep it more out of sight. But, to my disappointment, my RAM doesn't let me do that without affecting the use of the sun visor and without showing it off to the world. (no tint strip)
After weeks of hemming and hawing on where to put it, I eventually ended up hardwiring it into the fuse box and putting it on the far left-hand side of the dash with Velcro and a rubber shim to keep it level. That is the best I could come up with while preserving the ability to easily hit the mute button AND have it hidden from view. I just throw a black washcloth over it when I leave the truck.
I know this location definitely affects long range radar reception due to the curvature of the windshield and low placement , but it's still is getting the job done.
Hopefully my next ride lets me get it back up high on the headliner.

Have you thought about purchasing a Blendmount? I think that everyone that has one loves it.

Never. I know people love them, but I'm of the 'concealed carry is better' school.
I do not like to advertise that I have a device in my vehicle that attempts to outsmart the police. I prefer it as hidden as possible. Up high on the headliner with a tint strip works for this, but not in the RAM. Having it any lower is putting on display for everyone to see.
I actually like where it is now from a hidden standpoint. The A-pillar hides it from pretty much everyone.

Doesn’t that impact picking up radar from the rear?

I would imagine that only problem with this setup is that your rear antenna will not get an optimal reception like open line of sight.

@securityguy: Curious. Can you set a speed threshold so that it mutes anything below the speed you choose (i.e. Only alert on speeds above 30 MPH, etc).

Thanks,
