Wow, this is great to know. "fly & drive" definitely adds the cost. Mind sharing the shipping cost and what kind of transportation service Mark has arranged for you? Thanks!
It’s about 1,200 miles drive from their dealership to my home. He set it up for $800. Says if you need it quicker, $900-1,000 will get it there quicker. I’m in no rush so I stuck to the $800.

Tha is really nice. I contacted Koon and I was told I need to take care of shipping truck by myself. So I backed off and found a local dealer instead.

Try Mark Dodge in Louisiana. My truck should be here today and Aaron took care of shipping and added it to the deal. All paperwork was done via Zoom and DocuSign and it was literally the least painful financing ever (5 minutes with no upsell attempts).
Btw, for Mark Dodge in Louisiana, do they also charge "processing fee" as Koon does which is around $900?

I’m sure this question has been asked ad nauseoum on this forum but what truly is the best time of the year to buy? Memorial Day, when the next year models come out, Black Friday, end of year, other?

I don’t have the funds right now but hoping to gain enough in the next few months to pull the trigger by Memorial Day if possible

The best time to buy a truck could be at anytime, depending on many factors, but the below information can give you an idea of when that is likely.

As a general rule, the best deals on new cars are tied to dealership and manufacturer sales targets. Once a dealership reaches a monthly/quarterly/yearly goal they are paid a bonus for each vehicle sold during that period. If they meet these goals they will be paid at least three more times on your purchase. The closer you are to these milestones, the more likely you are to find a better deal that moves inventory faster. In order of preference, the best time to buy a car is the end of the year followed by the end of the quarter and end of the month. You can find out more about this with these links LINK1 LINK2

Best Months to Buy a Truck
October through December tends to offer the best discounts.
May through September are the other months that bring relatively better discounts.
The least discounted months to buy a car are January through April.

Best Holidays to Buy a Truck
Holiday sales events are also a great time to buy a new truck. These sales are usually linked to discounts as well as special financing and rebates. In addition to the December holiday season, Memorial Day weekend, the 4th of July, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Black Friday, and New Year's Eve often feature special sales and incentives.

The Worst Time to Buy a Truck
Avoid making a deal for that new or used truck at the beginning of the month. Just as the end of the month is the best time because sellers want to make month-end deals, they have less incentive in the early part of the month to slash prices. Another poor choice is buying at the start of a model year. Dealers typically won't offer discounts for new models, but if you want a truck from the previous model year, you might be in luck.

Similarly, don't expect good deals on vehicles in high demand or when a newly designed model comes out. If you want one, plan to pay a premium price for it. What are some of the worst holidays to buy a truck? Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Easter Sunday.

I gleaned this information from Consumer Reports, Edmunds, Truecar, and other sources.

Fantastic Material!

But I'm looking at ordering from the Factory. (Hey, I want what I want and not all the extras from whats in stock that I don't want..)

Other than waiting till September to order, since all the great incentives come out in October-November. How do I go about getting the best deal. I won't know until the month it's delivered what those deals are?

Who buys something they don't know what the price will be in 6-8 weeks? That's insane!

I always factory order my vehicles. I also want exactly what I want without paying for anything I don't. You make the best deal you can and get in writing that the dealer will not use any incentives or rebates that will block you from using your own incentives and rebates when your truck arrives.

When your truck is a few weeks out from delivery search this forum, Ram, and Edmunds for incentives and rebates. You can then call FCA Incentives at 1-800-227-0757 to help you figure out which ones you can use and combine. Helpfulness varies on who you talk to.

Think of your negotiated price as the "price" and incentives and rebates as a probable extra unknown discount.

Thank you Sir for your wisdom!

So I'm probably going wait to order then till the arrival date (planning 6-9 weeks on the build) is around either the 4th of July sale or Nov-Dec to get the extra incentives. I don't need one yet, the old diesel Jetta is still working fine.

What are you typically finding for rebates? I'm only seeing about 2k right now in various incentives with the employee pricing going on. Should I be looking for more or less than that?

Lastly, Who are the Volume dealers in Texas? Not that I would be upset about hitting Louisiana if that's the best price!

The price is what you agree to when you order. You're just gambling on what the rebate will be to reduce the price when you take delivery. Maybe semantics in the grand scheme, but important psychology.

The issue there is you don't know how long it'll take for your truck to get built and shipped. My built order was delivered 36 days from order date. Other people are seeing 2-3 times that. Some even worse, but those are outliers. 6-9 weeks is going to hit most of the time, but if there's supply issues and you miss your cutoff, the dealer isn't going to be able to give you expired rebates. And if you plan on 6-9 and it comes in 5 weeks like mine, the dealer probably isn't going to want to sit on it for weeks.

Just food for thought.

First post here and now my first Ram truck. Just wanted to thank @Silent Bob for a lot of the info here since it helped me land a pretty good deal for the EOY. Using his pointers and a combination of other forum info from Edmunds and such I was able to get this done on a '21 Laramie Crew 4WD in the Kansas City area. I ended up leasing but I'm sure that's a different topic, anyway details below.

MSRP $59,780
Selling Price: $51,717.000
Reabtes: $4750 + $1500 Ramtrucks.com Rebate = $6250 total Rebate
Out the Door Price: $46,366 fees included

All said that's 13.5% off MSRP before or 24% off MSRP after rebates but without fees. Now that I'm a 5th gen owner, look forward to being on this forum a bit more.

Thanks so much for this information! I purchased my truck on 2020 Labor Day and was told that I could get either 0% financing or take the rebates/ incentives and finance through the dealership not both. If I financed through the dealership the interest rate was 5.99% and I was told by the finance officer that I could not refinance for 6 months. Well that was not in writing and my Ace in the hole was that I had already qualified through Navy Federal for a 1.79% New car loan. I got the rebates which dropped the OTD price several thousands, financed through the dealership and refinanced through NFCU about two weeks later and saved hundreds in interest paid. The only thing I regret is that I did not negotiate an add on like performance exhaust in the deal which I could have done but was too excited about the deal to mention it. If I would have thought to do that it would have been a deal breaker and would have walked out of the dealership but they would not let that happen as it would have been only a few hundred at their cost. Anyway, if you are purchasing you are in the drivers seat (pun intended) and have fun!
