Anyone updated to a heated steering wheel? I bought a wheel that has the option. I know you have to change some parts behind the wheel but I don’t have a button on my dash. Do you need to add the button or can you activate in the 8.4 touch screen?

My 21 Limited is activated via UConnect screen.

It's on the touch screen.

After install, the dealer will have to enable it in the BCM, unless you have the software to do it.

@JK--- do you have heated seats?? The module for heated seats and wheel is under the pass seat... Without that module, there is nothing that will activate it...

Personally, I don't care for the heated steering wheel as it has no adjustments. Gets too hot. I don't use heated seats either. I do use the vented seats, though. I know I live in Texas, but even when I lived in Iowa with really cold winters, I didn't use that stuff.

Wife loves it, though.

Same here. I wonder if there is some hack that can be done to lower the temp on the steering wheel. After a few minutes, it's too hot to keep the heat on.

Agree that the wheel gets hot. However, I have poor circulation and arthritis so it feel great. Once truck interior is warmed up I turn off seat and wheel anyway. Their job is done.

Hey guys I took the temperature of the Steering wheel and it hit 122.8 degrees F. Sorry man that is just too hot. There needs to be a fix. I had it checked out at the Dodge dealership and they say there is nothing they can do there is no software update either. So It is the same as trying to walk back to your lounger chair in Las Vegas in the middle of August. Your feet burn real quick..... this the same feeling With my hands it has to be shut of, there is no Low, medium And high settings like the seats. It is just scorching hot or off! Has anyone Else have this issue other than the two here who have posted, thanks in advance, all.

My wheel does not get that hot. I have a BH so it is leather wrapped. I'll try to use my infrared thermometer if I think about it.

My Gen 4 Laramie wheel was not as hot as the Gen 5 though I still would turn it off when the truck warmed up. The seats seem hotter as well and I haven't had them on long enough to see if they lower theor setting after a while like my Laramie did.

I agree, but I do use the heated wheel on really cold days, the heated seats would be better if the majority of the heat were concentrated in the lumbar area. The way it is, my *** just sweats. The Ridgeline I had, had three settings for the wheel, low was perfect.

When it's below freezing and then below zero and you don't want to warm the truck up the wheel and seats are great, not matter how hot they get...especially in the diesel.

The original leather wrapped wheel that came in my Laramie didn't seem to get warm enough. It was definitely better than gripping a cold wheel but I would have liked it to be warmer. I swapped in a Longhorn wheel with the "wood" insert before the cold weather hit this year, and it's definitely a lot warmer in the leather wrapped sections. Almost too hot to hold onto. The wood section is about perfect though. It would be nice if there was a way to adjust the heat, but it's easy enough to just turn it off when it gets too warm. Once my truck is warm inside, the heated wheel isn't needed anymore.

I always thought of a heated steering wheel as a gimmick, especially in a warm state. However, after one cold rainy day, I decided to give it a try. I was magically transported to a wonderful place, I think I started to cry.

Anyways, I won't buy another vehicle without one, even if I can only use it once a year, it's worth every cent.

I agree, right up until I had one I thought it was stupid.
