Debadging

My rub Strip is Plasti Dip with glossifier over it. If it begins to look bad within a year, I’ll just remove the pieces altogether. As long as it goes more than a year without requiring attention, I’ll redo the dip as needed. The trucks without them look cleaner for sure, but I value the slight door ding protection that the strips provide. No regrets at all on the debadging.

Heatgun and goo-gone still the method of choice, or does anyone have any better tips ? Would love to remove RAM from the doors and the bighorn badge from the tailgate

That was the method I used when I removed my tailgate badge, but the damn adhesive seemed to be stronger than ever. I ended up having to hit it with a magic eraser and then some heavy buffing compound to buff out the scratches from the magic eraser. That did the trick...but was a little scary for a bit there. Interested to see what method other people used...I still have the doors to do.

Honestly I just went to a body shop and had them do it.. well worth the $150

I used fishing line to cut the foam behind the Ram, Hemi, 4x4, etc. then a eraser wheel on a drill, then goo gone. I love the clean look. When I bought my 09 Ram I took off the dealer advertising at the dealership with an eraser wheel I had in my other truck. The Salesguy was like "wtf are you doing?" I said I just gave you $39k you want me to advertise for you too?

Does anyone have pictures of body color badging, besides on a black truck, they could post up? I want black badging on my truck but the shop will only do body color because it's the easiest to do.

I bought the MOPAR black hood and tailgate badges (removed all others) and then added vinyl overlays from reflective concepts. You can also pay out the *** for custom painted ones.

A Friend mine does vehicle wraps and said that he could help out blacking out my badges. I might be better off buying the hood and tailgate badges and hyper dipping everything else.

do you have the part numbers for these. I really like how the lettering is not blacked out on these. TIA

It’s just the MOPAR black hood and tailgate emblems. Lettering I did myself. I used the vinyl over lays from Reflective concepts to do the lettering. Was definitely a tedious process but the end result was well worth it in my opinion.

What color vinyl did you use? I have a Billet Silver and was thinking about doing the same. Any pics of the hood from further back? Looks great!

The color I ordered was the non-reflective silver-grey. And that was from Reflective Concepts.

Here’s a few other shots from further back...

Thanks! That looks great. I dipped my badges black but it feels like they need something else. This looks just right.

I was definitely pleased with the end result. I would suggest ordering an extra set of each though lol might be my old man thumbs but the smaller lettering and numbers was tricky. Especially the tailgate badge.

Great thread and sweet looking trucks, I'm getting mine debadged after the holidays from the body shop, I will take before and afters for sure!!

I must have had poorly adhered badges, because once I ran the line behind them to cut them off I could just roll the adhesive foam off, use a small amount of goo gone, and done. Did the doors and tailgate (minus the Ram) in about 15-20 minutes. Way easier than I had anticipated. I used the wife’s hair dryer to warm them up before starting.

Has anyone just removed the hood badge entirely? I had considered replacing it with Black slash Dodge graphics.
