Does anyone know if they make a replacement solid back window for these 5th gen 1500s?

If/when my rear window frame gets the dreaded crack, I would rather replace it with a solid window and be done with it.

I have yet to see a 5th gen 1500 with a solid back glass.

Apparently FCA will not approve a warranty repair replacing the window with a solid one. Apparently it would violate the warranty since it was not repaired to original. Dealer told me the issue would be with trading in or selling the truck since the truck would have slider controls for the rear window but the solid window would not have the ability to open.

I wouldn’t use FCA. I would purchase the window myself and have a shop install out of pocket. If need be, get a tradesman “map light” without the stupid button.

Much better than a cracking rear window frame that FCA has not found a solution for.

Something I wouldn’t be worrying about until it happened. Who’s to say that a solid window wouldn’t crack as well. Unlikely, but it could happen... That’s like replacing a power window with a crank window because the motor might go bad.

If you read it correctly, I said IF/WHEN my frame cracks.

Got my backlite replaced today. Found the crack a week ago, fca approved ans part ordered last Friday and installed today. Glass shop came to dealer and did it same day. Needed to wait 4-5 hours for urethane to cure and brought her home. All in all a great and quick experience. Hopefully I don’t have it crack for a third time.

So I was looking and if you pull the 3rd brake light assembly off you can kind of see where the crack might meet the plastic why not just use some RTV or silicone and seal where It could potentially leak in? Im planning on doing that this weekend when I get a chance so if my develops a crack that's all it will be just a crack and not a water leak

Reminds me of when those 2000 -2006 Ford explorers had those cracks develop below the rear window...stress cracks I think. EVERY explorer I saw and still see on the roads has them. Ford wouldn't do $hit about it. Always thought FCA backed their vehicles a little better than Ford does...guess not...?

I use to own a 2016 Ford with so many issues and i was never happy to visit my dealer... I feel way better with FCA's service.

If and when mine cracks that’s my plan. Fill the crack so it’s just cosmetic and doesn’t leak. Or I’ll pay out of pocket and get a solid window installed. Pointless to me to get the window replaced with the same garbage that will crack again.

Heh I hear ya. My 2013 F150 never gave me any problems but I never liked Ford's service departments
