That's the main reason I went 48 inch no spacers so it doesn't stick out and rub the tailgate.
I used spacers on mine, but I mounted the bar a little too low and had to move it up a little. With the right location and spacers because of the back up cam harness, I still have about 1/8" between the tailgate and the LED bar when the tailgate is lowered. It's tighter than skin on a weenie as my father-in-law would say.

Don't know the color as I used the Curt adapter but I can tell you it is the center pin of the 7 pin trailer wiring plug if that helps.

Dumb question, what's the point of the spacers? Just so it's not set back so far under the tailgate? I'm thinking of ordering this but using magnets to stick it on.

The whole piece under the tailgate is plastic on the new Rams. The light bar will not lay flat with the 3M tape due to the molding of the plastic. Plus, there is the reverse camera wiring harness that is close to the center. So, to clear the molded protrusions and the wiring harness, spacers were needed. The clips are screwed with spacers into the plastic shroud.

I hooked up the same light bar last week and mounted it the same. But I wired the reverse light part to the bed light switch on the left side. Now I can turn on the white light anytime from the cab, even when driving forward. Coolest feature ever.

does it come on when you put the truck in reverse as well, or just when you turn on the bed lights?

It does not. I would assume that you could wire a connecting wire to your reverse lights too, but I don't think that the reverse lights are dim, so I didn't worry about it. If for some reason I need them, I can activate the light bar with the switch in the cab.

nice, I like that Idea. I really only bought it for my reverse, turn signals, and maybe the brake lights... was thinking about just wiring those up to start with. but if I can add it to the bed light switch and then use it as needed. might be a better solution. I don't think the reverse lights are that dim either, especially since I have LED flood lights in my driveway that are motion activated. ha. plus I can hit that switch when the people behind me drive with their high beams on. ;)

Yeah, using the LED light bar for the idiots that have their bright lights on is awesome. Especially the cars, the angle of the light bar is perfect for some good payback.

What adapter is this? I want to hook up tailgate LED with no cutting. Would like to have reverse, turn signals and brake lights operate. Will I be able to accomplish with this adapter? Thanks for your input.

I used the one linked below. No cutting or splicing on the truck or opt7 side. , it is a 5 pin so you can use a bullet terminal on the white wire(reverse wire) of the opt7 light bar and plug right in to the 5 pin harness of the above curt adapter I speced below.

I also posted below a not so great pic of the 4 pin opt7 plug connected to the 5 pin curt plug with reverse wire plugged in separately.

That one will work it just will have to splice/tap the opt7 white reverse wire to the reverse wire on the Curt adapter. At least it won't be a tap on the factory wiring.

Where did you splice the reverse into?

I got it, everything is working as it should. As I look at it, I think I will mount an aluminum bar and then mount the light strip on to it. The tailgate harness and the other non-level areas is not clean enough for me, spacers were used but still too wavy. Thanks for your assistance.

Do you have any issue with the Ram thinking a trailer is connected ? I've read you need to install a module for the light bar to function without interference .

No issues at all with trailer/blind spot warnings. The module that is talked about is required on Ford trucks.

It comes with the clips, you can pick up the 1/4" and 1/2" plastic spacers at home depot as well as approximately 1" long sheet metal screws.
