So I got this email today, drove to dealer, and they told me it was fake. Not real. Some third party they deal with sent it out. I’m now wondering if this was leaked or if they were just idiots.

They have 72Mo
Shows to be running thru the 4/30

What zip code are you using? We aren’t seeing it

edit: I stuck my old FL zip code in and see it. Now I gotta figure out how to buy it with that.

I received a similar "Drive Forward" email today from Kernersville, NC CDJR.

I compared prices they sent me on their specials 2 weeks ago to the ones listed in the one I got today and for the same trucks (Rebels), the price drop was only about $100.

Sorry in advance if this is getting posted in the incorrect forum. I just joined yesterday and I've been reading alot of the previous pages on how to get the best deals and incentives. I'm pretty new to the "Serious haggling" of truck shopping so some of the terms that t is used here I am not familiar with such as ( Hold Backs, dealer discount vs rebates, MSRP vs invoice price, TTL, etc) I'm looking to get a new truck soon seeing as my family has grown and I have out grown my older car. If someone has time and could give me a breakdown of what certain things means and what I should look and ask for when getting a truck that would be very helpful. Thanks again in advance.

Hey guys,

New here. I'm shopping for a top spec Limited 4x4. I prefer the Hemi, but wouldn't hate the diesel if a dealer wanted to move one. Anyway, the MSRP of the trucks I'm looking at are around $69-72k. At the moment, the best I've been able to secure over the phone is 13k off. While that seems like a good deal, I feel like this is a deal that could have been had 8 weeks ago. I'm still getting the usual sales run-around. Had a second dealer tell me he could beat any offer I brought him in writing, but refused to go lower than his competitor over the phone. So let's call it 14k off.

To me, it seems a lot like business as usual with a few more incentives from FCA. I think the dealers here are eager to make a sale, but not in crisis mode yet. I'm not trying to rob anyone, but this is a purchase I'm pushing up a year or so so the deal has to be good. Do you guys think I can reasonably expect anymore movement if I keep pushing? Ideally, I'd like to be in the 17-18k discount range. I doubt dealers are going to see a lot fo demand for top spec trucks in the near future, I'd think they'd want to move them while they can.

I have been running into the same thing in Minnesota. I’ve been to a bunch of dealers, highest off with dealer discount and incentives is 15k, and they won’t budge, and also low balled me on a trade in. Other dealers are in the 12-14k range off and won’t price match any other dealers. I got into a spitting match with a sales manager and basically said “your going to lose this sale over 1,000 bucks”? He wouldn’t move on the price.

I'm in FL by the way. I got a feeling the dealers are feeling less pressure than the manufacturers at the moment. My buddy that works as a service writer said they cut a ton of costs the moment lockdown went in effect--no more staff lunches, curtesy shuttles, free car washes, stopped 401k and healthcare contributions, and furloughed a lot of staff. They probably also think they can withold payments to FCA for a while with promise of loans/bailouts from the gov expected. Rumor on the hill is cash-for-clunkers 2.0 is being thrown around. Although the dems likely won't let that cover luxury pickups, it will mean more cash flow for the dealers. I think a good deal is to be found, but you'll have to catch the right dealer at the right moment. Dealers really gonna feel it if/when supply chain for parts gets interrupted. Further cuts to the service centers will really hit them where it hurts.

There's basically 2 discounts off MSRP, dealer discount and incentives. Dealer discount is whatever you can negotiate. Incentives come directly from Ram so check their site and you'll see, they are based on your zip code.

You can get the exact invoice from searching, but %7 off MSRP is pretty close. You can use %3 for holdback. So %10 off MSRP for a dealer discount. That's generally the high end of a good deal. %15 off MSRP is a great deal.

So in my case, If I was looking at a 2020 Big Horn, MSRP $54,000 I'd want a dealer discount of $5,400 to $8,100. Then based on my zip code, I can get $5,500 in cash incentives, plus $2,000 for truck conquest and USAA. That brings me down to $41,100 to $38,400. That price is for cash or coming in with your own financing.

I've been shopping for about a 60 days and the best tool is the internet, specifically cars.com and cargurus.com. My experience has been that the internet price they post is close to their final "haggled" price and generally close to 20-25% off MSRP. I've gotten a couple dealers to give a little bit more past those internet prices, $65K Ram Limited 4x2 down to about $47 & 48K . The best thing you can do in my opinion is go into the situation with the dealer educated as to what the "good" prices are, have a backup deal and be ready to walk away if the 1st deal isn't what you think it should be relative to what you're seeing. Also be aware of the advertised low price that some dealers have then the add-ons that jack the price back up. I was working a deal on a truck a couple weeks ago and stumbled upon a $65K Limited advertised for $45K. Tried to buy it on the spot but they had $3500 in "mandatory add-ons" that made the truck not a great deal

Even with the add-ons, that's 25% off MSRP. How is that not a great deal? I can't get anywhere near that discount with the several dealers I've spoken to.

What is a mandatory add on exactly? I usually just negotiate out the door. I don't give a crap how they need to write things for their goals and such, I just care about the bottom line.

What's frustrating me at the moment is that despite the lockdown and the fact they advertise "no need to come in", "delivery", "pickup", "delivered test drive" etc., nearly every salesperson I've talked to wants me to come in so the salesmanager knows I'm serious before they can get me a serious offer. That's the same as pre-covid.

They want to pressure you in person. Get you on their turf. No truck is worth risking the virus just so you can sit at a dealer for 3 hours.

I agree! 25% off MSRP on a Limited is still a great deal.

Dealer pissed me off misrepresenting the truck sales price plus I had two other deals on hold or $1000 less than his with no addons. His truck was $49K after the add-ons. I had two other deals at $48,3 and $48,1 with no addons, all three trucks have an MSRP of $64,530

$250 wheel locks
$399 for Kahu gps tracking, all mandatory they claim.

Not me but obviously someone is otherwise they wouldn't be doing it.
I asked him what it was, he said a protectant that they coat the wheels with, I said OOkkk

Well I went to bunch of dealers aggressively shopping 2500s, Ended up trading in the lifted rebel for 36k but I took my bed cover lol (cost me 1100), left my amp steps which I wanted to take but they wouldn’t go for it lol, and got a ecodiesel limited. Sort of wild card. Didn’t want a limited because I hate all the self driving nonsense but when I saw it, optioned the way I like, I wanted it. Really wanted a diesel, just didn’t want to spend that much on a Cummins and don’t need all the HD aspects of it, and this hopefully is going to turn out to be a ocol

So did you have the option of the 14% from the dealer plus either the 0% or the rebates? Or is the rebates in the 14%?
