One more thing...
My issues exhibited this since new, so the bent connector 100% happened during assembly at the factory.
Would not be surprised if the same primate working that stage similarly bungled a whole bunch of other trucks, as we are not the only two having these issues.

i had my media hub replaced a couple weeks ago. Android Auto and USB music worked fine since new, then one day just stopped working, dealer placed the media hub and has been working fine.

Mine worked 4 of the 7 hour drive home from the dealer. Stopped to get some food and gas, it quit working. Wasn't a big deal was I didn't really have any long trips planned in the near future.

When I was getting ready to have the oil changed at 3,000 miles, I added the trailer brake control, figuring while it was at the dealership, they could flash it for me while taking care of some other minor warranty issues. They did, and the Carplay started to work again..... for a day. Then it quit again.

Had to take the truck back again for the cracked rear window frame, asked the tech to check the USB/Carplay again. He did, it worked again for a day. According to the repair order, he just disconnected the battery and did a reset. No flash, no firmware update. Still on NOGL and 18.45 (or whatever it is-not the 19.xx)

Had to take the truck back to get the rear window installed (didn't have it in stock at the dealership). I called 2 days before the appointment letting them know the USB wasn't working again and to please add it to the service while it was there for the window install. Yeah, they didn't even look at the USB.....

So now I'm scheduled to take it back in again for the 4 week in a row for the USB/media hub. I understand you have to follow protocol from FCA for warranty work, but they didn't seem to interested in just installing a new media hub. I guess I'm just a guy that is an "internet tech" and don't know what I'm talking about.....

Who knows, maybe the 4th time will be the charm...... fingers crossed!

My local dealer (not the selling dealer) has been great about fixing all the other warranty issues and only charged me $45 to flash for the TBC.

Read my post above if you haven’t.
You have the same symptoms I had. Could be a bent connector on the USB/Media hub like mine. Should be easy to fix as long as they agree to look into it. Hope they fix this for you. It took me four or five tries since my disconnects were also intermittent.

Hi @Grilleguy - I am very sorry to hear of the trouble that has been associated with your ownership experience. I understand multiple dealer visits are certainly not ideal and I want you to know that we are more than happy to provide you with an additional layer of support for your upcoming appointment if needed. We are always just a private message away.

Have you been using the same cable all along, or did you try different cables?
I tried everything. Including different cables. I went back to original Samsung cables that came with the phone. One of those is what I am using and it is working.

My local dealer agreed this time that they need to replace the media hub, but of course they didn't have one in stock.... And now that our dictator, errr- I mean governor, has decided that all non essential businesses must be closed indefinitely, who knows when the part may be delivered and installed....

That’s a good first step and the biggest battle.
At least now you know that once they have the part, it will be fixed. Best of luck.

Just an update, in a good way...
Ever since getting the OTA update to NOGL 19.43.xx CarPlay has worked every time I've tried it!

Waze has worked every time.

I can save Pandora stations on SiriusXM as well, and they are different that the saved Pandora stations on my phone.

Still not sure if it plays via bluetooth off of my phone because I haven't tried, but it does play iheart radio via my USB cable

Just might be cancelling my media hub replacement. 1) if it's working - don't mess with it, 2) no need to waste the dealerships time

Glad to hear!!!
Honestly, once they fixed mine (bent connector from factory), I’ve been trouble free electrical-wise, for the last three months or so. That was the only pain point. It’s so great to have something work every single time you use it. :giggle:

On the day I purchased my Ram a year ago, I noticed that my front USB's would cycle on and off. Of-course, an appointment was made to get the situation looked at. The tech removed my console, inspected the USB's but could not find where the issue was originating from. He reassembled everything, so that he could return the truck to me while he researched the issue, and low and behold...everything worked the way it should. I have not had an issue with the USB's for a year now. Yesterday, I disconnected my battery to install a Pulsar unit. I noticed today that my USB's were not working. Everything else was fine, just the USB's were non-op. That got me thinking. I'm positive that the tech disconnected my battery a year ago to troubleshoot the USB "electrical" issue. Maybe, when he reconnected the battery, the USB module came on line the way it was supposed to, and the issue resolved itself. So, I decided to disconnect the negative cable for 15 minutes today, then reconnect it. I did not do anything else with the truck. I let it sit for 30 minutes to allow the systems to re-initialize all on their own...I didn't even open the doors. After 30 minutes, I went back outside, started the truck, and wouldn't you know it...EVERYTHING including the USB's are working again. Moral of the story, if you happen to have a truck with faulty front USB's, try doing what I did and see if the module resets itself. May save you some dealership hassle.
Thanks for that tip!
