I would not give them a dime...total garbage company with garbage support. With all the other alternatives available I cannot understand how they stay in business.

To your point. I recently discovered that my Ram radio can pick up HD radio stations. I even found a station I like with no commercials. Not missing XM at all.

I have terrible reception where I live. Therefore, SiriusXM is wonderful. I also listen on my boat because when you get a few miles from land, the reception is even worse than in the truck. It is all about the value. For me, the value is great.

Hi all,

In todays mail was a solicitation for SiriusXM. I haven’t read all the fine print but the big, bold eye catching headline is: 6 months all access for $50 or 12 months for $99. Then buried down later the after taxes price is $119.88 for the 12 months.
Since neither I or she uses the current service, what advantage is there to take advantage of this? The only reason we’d use it would be for real-time traffic if we weren’t using the cellphone...occasionally I have looked at that.
So whats your opinions on this? Remember we aren’t radio listeners...
That's a very good deal

Mines never worked right since new. Always had to resubmit info. Frustrating, maybe down the road

I have a few more months of free service then will likely let it go. Same songs over and over just like regular radio.

That's a hell of a deal!!! I still think there's some premium stuff like Howard Stern you wouldn't be getting. Still definitely worth it imo.

Dang, lots of haters be hating. The OP did ask for opinions, what a plethora of responses.
My addition, I like SXM, and have been a subscriber for 10+ years. I have the all access package as I enjoy much of what it offers, including being able to stream the service through my phone at work, through my echo 5 at home, and on my boat streaming through my plugged in phone.
I normally go through a service retention repreventive, and work a deal best for me. this last deal I locked in a two year subcsripiton for $77+ fees/per year. Less than $100.

I really hate how they force you to call and cancel. The other annoying thing is that everyone is paying different prices. They need to keep it simple like Netflix. Sign up or cancel online and everyone pays $5 a month. Their subscriber numbers would triple.
I wasn't planning on resubscribing but recently got a promo that was too good to pass up. $4.99 a month for 12 months and I pay monthly, not all in one shot.
Hold off and eventually a great deal will come along.
Have you ever tried to cancel, its worse then cancelling AOL in the 1990's. Then the AG had to step in. I gave up on Sirius subscriptions 10 years ago, It was murder to stop the billing on my credit card. Its a lesson I learned and will never get "bitten" by them again! To get a "deal" they demand your CC and the fine print says auto renewal. And boy do they do the renewal even when you say NO! I'm sure they have lost millions of dollars by inserting "auto-renewal" in the small print. Many astute folks won't fall for this trick. I remember back when I was working so many colleagues ranted about the same experience I had.

OP here. While I haven't "renewed" or anything (have till April), these responses have been good information. Yes the auto-renewal issue is often a problem, I wonder if the cc company I use can give me one of those "virtual" account numbers that cannot be renewed? Hmm.
To get the very best deals it does appear that I'd have to call and negotiate. 2 years for $77 is very inexpensive.

Since I'm not a radio listener anyway, I'll likely not renew but this thread has given a lot of good info to those facing the same choice.

Thanks for the responses. Still lovin' the truck.

Oh, to add to the mpg questions/debate, my son's nearly identical Ltd was stuck on 15.7 mpg combined (non ET and 3.21). I reset the mileage (lie-o-meter) and drove about 20 miles (all city) and got 18.9. He accused me of getting out and pushing it. All I can say is he is a more aggressive user of the accelerator. That must be the difference. (Course' now traffic is going again).

My 1 yr trial is up in May. Im debating renewing. I have an offer for $100 for a year of all access. I dont think its worth 100$ but would take it for $5 a month.

What is the difference between the all access and the $5 a month package? I really only listen to about 10 channels. Could care less about the sports or howard stern.

This is exactly the information I was looking for. And, sadly, it's pretty much what I expected.
I've really enjoyed my SiriusXM, since I bought my truck in June, but their business model blows goats. If I could get a subscription for a reasonable amount of money, and, most importantly, not have it auto-renew, I'd be all over it.
Of course, they probably make enough money from the "un-wary consumers", that this crap works for them. Cretins.

Many credit cards now offer virtual account numbers that generate a random card number linked to your account where you can set a dollar and time limit. For instance, $100 in a 2 month period. Come auto renewal time the number no longer works. Perfect for subscription services.
....

Great information! Thanks for this. I may have to look into it, if I decide to stick my (neck) out there.

I'm not sure what everyone is making a big deal about. All you have to do is call and cancel it when the promotion ends. It literally takes two minutes.

All fine and dandy but the usually script is bounce you around, make a few pitches for renewal, etc, ect, ect and after if you have given them the 15th no thank you they finally cancel. If you haven't experienced this you have done well. The point is they should make it possible to cancel online.

you don't allow your self to be bounced around. ask one time to whomever is on the phone with you for an account retention representitive. this will get you to the highest level of "customer service", work your deal or opt out.

If you enjoy good radio with really good DJs (on some stations) I think it's almost worth it. If they offer a deal, I'd be in. I had a "lifetime" subscription on my last truck. Gonna miss that. Oh well. I do find that XM is not pushed much in a RAM. In my Silverado, it was a predominant feature, in the RAM you have to dig for it. At least in the 12" screen. For instance on the split screen setup, you have choices for audio: Aux, FM, AM, Bluetooth, but no XM. Odd, just odd. It's missing in other places where it would be handy too. Not sure what RAM has got against XM, but it seems more than apparent.
