Not to be a downer, I too want wireless CarPlay but a huge risk is that even if it works now, if it is not officially authorized by Apple, a future iOS update (or possibly Uconnect) can render this useless.

Indeed. Like all hacks (this is what this is after all), there’s risk involved.

First update is even though I got the 3-5 business day "express" shipping option, the unit is still no where close to being here. Today I got an email from the website stating they were sold out due to "huge demand" and that the Coronavirus has "paralyzed half of the world freight services and our freight from Hong Kong can't be exported until the 9th of February because of quarantine extension. We will start shipping all orders on the 10th of February"

Now I don't know if I want to handle the unit when it does arrive!

You'll be fine. The virus can't live that long in the wild (24 hrs max, studies show).
