I purchased a 2019 limited but it came with a tow package and I’m looking into swapping the parts to add the regular mirrors with the cameras and the front camera. Does anyone know if this will work? Or has anyone attempted this?

I've hear alot of people ask about it and I think its a nightmare involving a wiring and programming. I'm haven't heard of anyone actually doing it

Just so I can better understand, was the tow mirrors a mistake? Like for instance did you order it without and it came with? Or was it just an oversight on your part? If you definitely ordered without and it came, I would definitely not take delivery and make them re-order me a new truck.

I heard its almost impossible to swap the tow mirrors with the regular mirrors. But don't quote me on that!

You’re going to have a hard time. There is more to it. You’ll need mirrors. You’ll need door modules. Window switch. Then you will need the imaging module and the front camera. Then you have to get the cameras calibrated. Also if you were to get all of that you’ll need the sales codes added to enable it all on the screen.

I’m for one glad I found out about this at the last min and switched trucks. Because this was a huge deal for me.

If I find out it is easier than I’ve stated I’ll update but my research shows the above.

Adding onto what @BostonBlueRam was saying about it possibly being a mistake. If this was one of the trucks that had a window sticker error, FCA is offering refunds.

I purchased the vehicle when it was in transit and the dealers website said surround view cameras and then when I received the truck it had the tow mirrors. I already purchased all of the pieces that 19RamLimited listed and I began installing it. I was just curious before I swap the grill out if there is anything I need to know as far as the wiring goes. And the dealer said they will reprogram and calibrate the cameras for $120.

You'll have to make certain about their ability to add the sales codes. That's typically the hard part. Service writers can add things like trailer brake controller and maybe some other items. They typically cannot add these sales codes engineering in Detroit has to get involved. Not being negative just making sure you check it put because it will be the hardest part besides the wiring.

I have to look at all of it to see. I hope some of it is there. You'll have to go to tech authority and start looking into it. See what the wiri g diagrams show. You can get a 36 hour subscription for about $30

You also can get part numbers

Definitely keep us updated on your success! Maybe a DIY for future members who might want to tackle the conversion themselves as well!

ON a side note, I am surprised the dealer is not eating the cost of reprogramming , not to mention maybe even taking care of this entire thing for you since it was due to inaccurate description on their end. Oh well

Thank you for the heads up and all of the parts came up around $2,000. I will go to the dealer and make sure they can program the vehicle and ensure that it will work before installing them. I will keep you guys updated.

Any update?
Im still working on the upgrade. I've been busy with work so I haven't done much more with the truck. It does seem that U will need the door harnesses and the body harness will also need to be changed. I will continue to post my updates as It comes along.

Really curious on how this turns out. I honestly would be ok with just the front camera. Hoping the dealer can install only the front camera eventually. I haven’t asked.

Curious. Does it cost more to get TT mirrors? I would assume it's less since it comes with three fewer cameras and modules, but sometimes logic escapes FCA...
Also, I don't understand why the front camera would also be excluded with TT mirrors. Doesn't make sense (well it doesn't make sense that any cameras are missing... It should have the same functionality as reg mirrors in my opinion, including power fold and defrost feature).

Yes it is $400 extra for the Tow mirrors. Then they remove 360 surround view and power folding.
Its highway robbery that they charge you $400 to remove features. Oh wait you get the trailer brake ($295)

I was projecting around $2,000. So looks pretty close. How did you find this out?
