1000019978.jpgAnybody know what this thing is? It has a fuse in it. 2021 RAM Laramie HK crew cab. It's just under the leftmost side of the dash, above the driver's left knee. I was fishing around and it fell down. It has about 8 inches of wire that allows it to hang below the dash panel. Thanks!

did your dealer install a tracking device that you know nothing about?

[mod: please don't @ jimmy07 every time someone posts a "what is this?" tracker thread (weekly)]

might be able to help

I thought I had seen those trackers in other threads and they looked different. I will try to poke my head up there this weekend. Thanks to all who replied.
In other news, I did the HK sub relocation into a skar 12" box this past weekend and I have a write up coming!

Could be anything aftermarket electronics wise. Maybe previous owner has a hard wired dash cam, or radar detector. Could be aftermarket car alarm/remote start. Yes trackers are common, but doesn't mean that's what it always is. Definitely trace the wires and see where it goes.

As mentioned above, until you trace it down, it could be anything. But you're still breathing hopefully, so at least it's not dangerous. Get us some more pictures if you find whatever module it leads to, and we will see if we can ID it for ya.

You put the OEM sub into a skar box, just confirming? Worth the cost/hassle?

It's only a 3 amp fuse, so whatever it is takes very low power. I don't think I've seen any tracker installs where they added a fuse for them. Most were plug and play with the OBD port.

Your pic looks a lot like the connector in the MOTOsafety GPS tracker harness, wire color out the end is different. Follow link for pic of the device and the complete harness:

2 questions for the OP...

1-did you buy the truck new or used?

2-what model Tag do you have on in the pic?

Every one I've seen is fused, including the one they tried to pass off in my wife's new car. At least that one was installed under the hood off the battery and didn't have any wires hacked into.
