Why does full volume show the number 38?

Is it me? I can’t find a setting to change it. It has been like this on my past 3 ram trucks.

Thanks

Good question. Im not sure why. Seems like an odd number for full volume. Why not 40? Right?

Stellantis found 31 (32 levels, as 0-31) was too granular, steps for volume change were too big. The next digital choice (adding one more "bit" in base 2) is 63 (0-64) and this was too many levels. Users could not tell a difference between two values, and a control with that fine a resolution required too much spinning due to limits in cost-effective reliable miniaturization.

In testing, setting the control to go from 0-38 (39 levels) was the optimal balance of volume change and knob spinning.

are we ever turning up the volume that high?? 31-35 is my max after that it's distorted.

The first part of your explanation does not explain the second part.

Each "click" of the knob is a noticeable but not too big change in volume, yet not too many clicks from silent to max. Back when I learned electronics the first time, this was easily managed in the analog domain. Today, the tech is all digitally encoded.

If I were the engineer for the project, I would have just shown a bar filling in, no number for everyone to see. Nobody needs to see the actual number.

Highway driving with windows down im at 38. Sounds great. Factory front door speakers actually sound really good. 3.5” have all been replaced Buying some Alpines 6.5” to test sound quality for the front doors
Mine goes to “11”. It’s one louder!

Sorry, couldn’t resist.
Mine goes to 12. I measured. 😜

i tried several set's of 6.5's with a 6x9 to 6.5 adaptor. if i could be so bold as to make a recommendation just throw a good set of 6x9's in the door/doors.
it sounds crazy but power bass makes factory replacement' with duel voice coils or get some CDT audios
shows a 4th gen but it fits a 5th
or
