Why do they insist on 22” rims on limited?

Except thats not what youve been saying
I can get a loaded Limited with night edition without the sunroof, ie it's an option.
I can't get a loaded Limited with night edition without 22s, it's not an option.
Am I stretching the meaning of what an optional item is?

Even right now on the website for 2025s if you get the night edition YOU CAN'T OPTION TO HAVE 20 INCH WHEELS.
You lose a ton of features if you don't allow the night edition to stay even stuff taken for granted on a Limited such as power folding mirrors, auto dimming side view mirrors, sports hood, etc.

Sunroof is an option and I can add or remove it no matter what else I have selected.

22" wheels are part of the NE package, we all already know that. Thats not what youve been saying but whatever

OP never mentioned anything about “packages”. (Read post #1). My 2019 limited had the choice of 20” or 22” inch wheels and it was not a base limited. It was fully optioned, including sunroof, 33 gal tank, and 3:92 gears. Every model year from 2019 to present allowed 20” wheels as a choice on a Limited trim, regardless of the options.
Which is incorrect...
They are not an option that you can just toggle like the other options that were posted.

Looks like the sports edition package is no longer offered either when I looked on Ram's website. It also forced 22s, but the other color ones.

Sorry sir, you are still wrong. Either you don’t understand English or just like playing word semantics when you know you’re wrong. Just be an adult and admit you mispoke 😂😂😂

My words that you highlighted in bold are absolutely 100% true! You brought in the word “packages”, that I did not state, nor did the OP! No one is talking about “packages”. Sure, there are some “packages” that force the 22” wheels. But Every model year from 2019 to present allowed 20” wheels as a choice on a “Limited trim”, regardless of the “options”…. Not “packages”.

So a package is not an option?
This is what Oxford says an option is

I can't choose 20 inch wheels if I get other "packages" or "options" therefore I say that 20 inch wheels are not an option as it may not be chosen at will.

I will admit that 20 inch rims on a Limited are STANDARD and were overridden by various packages over the 5th gen year.
Once you want the items in said package the only OPTION is to accept the 22 inch wheels as you can't remove the 22 inch rim "option" as there is no "option" as it's tied into the base config and once you add spots or night edition packages you can no longer remove it, thus it's not an "option" because I may not choose to refuse the 22 inch wheels on it's own.

Choose 20" or night edition. As in life, some options are simply mutually exclusive. Marry one sister or the other, you'r not allowed to have both. Ever hear you cant have your cake and eat it too? All of these are options that you choose from...

😳😳 wow, it’s official, you are a brick short of a load. There’s no getting through to you. Enjoy your ignorance🤣🤣😂. I have officially ignored you, so rave on😆😆😆

The overwhelming majority of Limited Rams in my area do not contain an option package that includes the 22 inch wheels but the dealers still often orders them as a stand alone option.

Here is an example of the most common Limited in my area. They are far more common than trucks with the night edition package or any other package that includes 22 inch rims. Very well optioned but without a package that includes the 22 inch rims. The 22 inch rims were ordered by the dealer like the 33 gallon gas tank.

There are still plenty of Limited Rams with options but without 22 inch wheels. Either dealers are inclined to order the 22 inch wheel option or the manufacture may be providing them an incentive to order that option.

Probably only a handful of owners that would take their limited “offroad”. Most are just luxury driven trucks. Those that do well they would general drop down in rim size and upsize tire size.

I got my Ltd on the edge of the grass last week by not judging the driveway edge correctly. Thank goodness I had auto 4x…

I think previous year dealer orders may be driving this. On my 2023 Limited 20 inch wheels were standard, but every dealer in my area had ordered the $2000+ 22 inch wheel option.

An 18 inch rim with taller sidewall tires will provide a much better ride. Also, the tire pressure will not fluctuate as much between cold and warm days.
Even in 2019 my dealer wouldn't take off the 22’s And they were new then.

Nonsense

I'll repeat -- way too small a rim for my taste -- to each his own. too much rubber! I would only have all that rubber if I were off roading most of the time. I don't so I'll stick with my beatiful street 22s with a little off-roading available with my 4X4. I drive mine fast and want quick response from the steering not high profile floating.

I'm honestly awe-struck at how poorly the 22 Limited with air ride rides. My 04 Dakota rides smooth as butter and I expected the air ride, even with 22's, to ride comparably. Constantly rocks side-to-side harshly. It's enough to think something is wrong

I can’t see an 04 Dakota even coming close to the ride quality of an 18 year newer, full size truck…and I don’t think 22” rims are the issue.

On my 4th ram… 06, 08, 15 limited w/ air, and 23 limited with air and 22’s… rides outstanding. I notice It does track possibly a little better than my 15 with 20“ rims when cornering agressive. I thought with a shorter bed (5 7 vs. 6 4 on my 15) and 22s the ride would not be as good. I as wrong.

That…or the 04 Dakota shocks are simply blown out and you’re floating over the road… :)
Not saying you’re wrong or defending your truck… I’m just saying with my experience and my trucks, simply not the case.
And I’ve got my fair share of crap roads to travel on in MI…for sure.

I concur. My '19 with air ride, rides great.

My last comment on this thread is the need for a stronger sidewall is real IMHO, as opposed to “nonsense”. I’m tired of replacing tires cut by sharp objects, rocks and other road hazards in my case.

Having an awd suv that required close tread depth on all 4 and losing one tire necessitated replacing all 4. The soft sidewall was sliced clean through.

Maybe the taller/stronger sidewall wouldn't have been able to ward the cut off, maybe it would have. My stock 22’s look like a paper cut would shred them.

Buy/drive on what you want, I still would have preferred 18’s.

Posters seem so “touchy” these days…

The ride difference between air suspension and non air suspension 5th gens is negligible. I’ve owned both. Two Limited’s with AS and one Laramie without. The Laramie had just as good a ride as both Limited’s had/have. Tires will make much more of a difference. 10 ply AT tires do noting for the ride, even when changing from 22’s to 18’s.
