This is a great post. The reason I went v6 is similar to many here. I don’t tow but mainly wanted a truck to haul my family which consists of my wife and 2 teenagers. They absolutely love the 2025 Crew cab Bighorn. The other reason is the deals they are offering on the v6 models. I just bought a 2025 Crew Cab Bighorn level 2 Night edition that had a 60k sticker price for $40,300 that also included a spray in bed liner and side steps. The cheapest I could get the same truck with the 3.0 Hurricane was $47k. I just couldn’t see spending the $7000 premium. We love the truck so far!

Yes, if the 3.6 fits your needs it’s a great motor! 66k on my 2015 jkur and it runs great! Expecting an easy 150-200k miles out of it. Unfortunately with the old 5 speed auto and worse aerodynamics than a ram I get 15 around town and 17-18 at 70+ on the highway.
I have a hemi ram because I thought they were going to the wayside and now they are not.
That pentastar should last a lifetime for you folks. It’s no coincidence they are using it in their new extended range truck.

I was very disappointed this year. 43k on 2022 v6 and a cam went bad. it was still under warranty... but a backorder part. backorder = many cam shaft issues in my understanding. I stayed with Ram but traded into a Hurricane. Still great gas mileage when daily driving but power when you need it.

I am old and I didn't grow up expecting my pickup truck to beat a Porsche 0-60. The Pentastar works for everything I need it for and I find the road manners perfectly suitable. Every engine has it's issues. With the Pentastar it is that stupid plastic oil filter housing. There were some rocker arm failures too early on. I'm proactively replacing them in our minivan and it is about $300 in parts and a day of cussing at engineers. The Hemi has it's own issues. The exhaust manifold comes to mind. That one has no easy engineering fix either and exhaust manifold replacement induces more curse words than intake/head work. Most Hemi tick issues are exhaust leaks but there is drama surrounding the Hemi lifters too.
So for me, I think it comes down to looking for the least drama in the powertrain choice. I'd own either but I want the engine/trans combo that is LEAST likely to cost me money down the road. I wish I could have bought the 5th gen without the eTorque gismo but alas, RAM screwed up that choice.

A number of us are running the BD Diesel manifolds which are reinforced and have longer studs. It's a non issue for me, already been replaced on both sides and I don't expect to have to touch it again. I'd put this on the same level as the plastic oil filter, probably something that is solvable in the aftermarket.
As for the lifters and cam, hate to break it to you but unfortunately the pentastar has been chewing them up as well.
On the other hand, my truck doesn't have ETorque.
