When are they gonna start building new trucks?

One of my coworkers has a son that works at the Toyota plant in KY. He said everyone just left when they shut down and a lot of their systems are damaged or ruined. Clogged paint lines, 8 million dollar vats of primer only stirred once per week and primer not going on cars right, he said he would avoid buying a new Toyota for a while but probably similar with other plants/makes. Not trying to scare anyone but it is something to think about.

IDK about other manufacturers, but at FCA they didn't just 'walk away' from the line. There are shutdown procedures for stopping production. Besides that, even with the shutdown, there has been a small number of skilled trades working to install new barriers and other PPE. I would assume they were also attending to any other issues to get the line running again. There are always difficulties when restarting after a break, but I wouldn't think this will be any worse than the after Xmas restart or summer shutdown (at least from a quality standpoint, throughput might suffer for a while as they get used to the new barriers and other safety measures).

Now whether FCA can get enough parts out of Mexico (since they are supposed to still be shut down till the end of the month) to keep the assembly plants running smoothly is another issue...

This is why I decided to buy a pre Covid truck.
