Wanted to ask what to expect when visiting a dealer with issues when under warranty / new purchase.
The dealership I bought from had a terrible service department (long story) so I had been calling local dealers closer to me. I simply said that at low speeds, 3 to 5 mph the transmission would make the car lurch/surge forward and back all while in 1st gear and I wasnt sure if this was normal.
One dealership said they have a 5 day waiting period, car must be left there for all 5 days before getting looked at, I could get a loaner (i think a rental actually) BUT if the tech says acting as expected I will owe all 5 days of the rental plus whatever days they took to look at it. Also if the tech were to reset/reflash it he would have to drive it "for hours" to relearn it.
Another dealership said their wait was 2 days, same conditions where i must leave car there for the wait period but there would be no loaner, I would have to have a rental if I still need transportation.
Is this normal? I have 600 miles on the truck and just want to have this and other issues documented / fixed but losing my truck for days and then potentially owing hundreds for a rental would really be upsetting.
