ok so randomly when i turn on the vented seat they will make a horrific buzzing noise. both do it. i have to turn them all the way off and start them back up and usually they will go back to normal. anyone else with issues like that?

When on "High setting" only, yes it can be a bit noisy if you look for it. I play music and its all good. I will tell you the high setting will keep me very comfortable on a sunny Houston day.

Mine does the same thing, when first turning on in high, super loud jet engine whine noise. It goes away after 15 or so seconds but it’s very annoying.

Dealer said it’s normal and I tried another truck in the lot that did the same thing.

Mine has done this too. Turning it off and back on made it go away. I've been using it regularly for a couple weeks now and haven't heard the noise. I mentioned it to the service advisor and he looked at it. But of course it didn't make the noise at the time. I'll deal with it if it starts making the noise again, but for now it's working fine. Ventilated seats is the reason I chose a Laramie instead of a Rebel, so I'll be very disappointed if they become a problem in the future.

Mine did this, the dealership determined it to be a bad resistor in the motor. Replaced the fan motor twice to finally find one that didn't have noise. All good so far after the fix...

There are a couple of things which don't make sense here. Electric motors don't contain resistors. The motor itself acts as resistance in the circuit. There are resistors in the fan circuit, but they would be external to the motor. I guess it could be true if the motor "unit" also contains the blower resistors for the different fan speeds, as an assembly. Not being familiar with this specific application I can't say for sure. I'd like to get a look at one.

The other thing that doesn't make sense is a "bad" resistor can really only have failed in one way. And that would result in an open circuit for that fan setting. And they don't fail intermittently. This issue seems to come and go for most of us. Resistors are passive devices, and either provide resistance to current flow when working properly, or stop current flow (open circuit) when blown.

At this point I suspect that for mine, the seat blower motor just needed to break-in. If I start to hear the noise again I'll be taking it in, but there's not point if it's not doing it anymore.

My seats make the same noise for a little at first then goes away. The higher the fan setting the more noise. It seems like it has something to do with the air resistance over the seat vents. If I lift my butt up out of the seat while it's making the noise allowing more air to escape out of the seat vents it goes away immediately......weird . Don't use mine that much in PA so it doesn't bother me.

Mine does it from time to time too. Have to turn off the cooling seats and start them again. Interested in what the fix might be.

It's not normal. Fans should not make loud buzzing noises which go away over time - ask yourself, has any fan you've ever used done that? No. If your vented seat does this, a part is defective and needs replaced. I had a 2019 that did this on the driver seat, but none of the other 3 seats. No other vehicle I've had with vented seats (10+) has done it. My new truck does not do it either.

I agree, but when the dealer just checks another truck and it does the same thing they just say it’s normal

As soon as you turn the truck on, put the seat to high and see if it makes the noise. Mine does it very consistently

I do know that feeling unfortunately, Mitch. However, if it would be of interest, I would be more than happy to escalate a case on your behalf so that a specialist can work alongside your dealer to resolve this. Please be sure to keep us updated! We are always a PM away.
