V6 hard shifts when engine is cold

Update to my situation. RAM Service Manager stated I was eligible for a new transmission ($100 deductible). Sounds great, but they said could take a month (not great!). I plan to call some other RAM dealerships and see what they say in regard to timing.

I wish you the very best. Perhaps a dealer that has a wait is a good thing. Does that mean he has many repeat customers?
It took 4 months to get my engine replaced. I was told day one that it would be 2 to 3 months. I tend to believe a transmission would be a simpler replacement.
Again wishing you the best.

Just joined this forum to learn more about this exact issue. I have a 2020 1500 3.6L (53k miles). Noticed the hard shifting around 45K. Brought it to RAM dealership and they did the PCM software update and said that should fix it. It didn't. Like the original post, my hard shifting is at first start. When I leave my house in the morning, the shifting from 3rd to 4th is super hard and clunky and the truck jerks forward. After that it's fine.

Definitely losing confidence in this truck. I asked the dealership about transmission fluid and they said it's a sealed unit and doesn't require service.
I just had almost an identical situation . Like you, my ram had the jerking at cold start-up while going into 3rd gear when first leaving In the morning. I brought to the dealer at 45k, dealer checked it and said nothing was wrong, just driver habits. Fast forward a few months, around 51k I had a check engine light indicating a code for 3rd gear. Ultimately, my transmission needed to be replaced which took 5 weeks. Dealership originally said the transmission needed to be replaced, then said Ram has this newer “d-clutch” repair they needed to try first. That was a waste of two weeks which the repair didn’t work and threw more codes. Overall a frustrating process and lack of support from Ram. It was covered under warranty but no extended coverage on the new transmission which is worrisome.
