Drove through my dealer’s lot for the first time in a long while. It was practically empty! A dozen or so Laramies and that was it. The Chevy side had about the same number - every one of them customized with the same dealer-installed lift kit, wheels, and graphics. I guess the scarcity is real!

Update, not that anyone but me cares- my old 2019 Ltd finally disappeared. I had seen it still listed yesterday on the AutoNation website and today it is gone. It took them 3 days shy of 7 weeks and several price drops to move it.

Just confirms what I am reading that even though the “scarcity is real“ it doesn’t mean that peeps are falling all over themselves to buy a truck just cause’ it’s for sale. Mine was a 3.21 geared, tri-tone ivory with the light interior which might have thrown guys off. Not the “mans RAM”, but then, a man didn’t initially buy it, ha ha.

Thanks for the update, I like seeing how long it takes to move them after we trade in or sell them.

They are still trying to sell mine, haven't come down on price any further since 6.22 and I'm guessing at this point they really don't have much room to make profit on it. They gave me $38,250 and at the very least put a new set of all terrains on it. Here's the current listing:

I've been running mine once a week on vroom. Just missed the peak as the last one I entered, dropped $1500.

Mine dropped another $500 putting the profit zone under $1,000 for them at this point.

Car dealerships and Casinos - the house never loses! ;)

Oh I'm familiar with that rule, but in this individual case I'm not sure where they will make up money on this other than if it's a pivotal sale in getting a bonus for a monthly quota or what have you. I sold to them outright, didn't trade, and they gave me $38,250. From there at the very least I can see they put new discovery at3 tires on (range from $240-280 per tire from what I see online, retail at least) and spent a fair amount of time cleaning it up, I'm not sure if they fixed any other problems. Even just putting new tires on had to have run them at least $800-900 making the room left for profit under $500.

Doesn't seem worth it to have it sit on the lot for a few months and I'm wondering if they'll even be able to sell it at this price. Back in March prior to the boom, the trucks value was only $30,000 so it would take a sucker to buy it. Of course there are plenty out there.

Update to the update. "The truck is back"... Weird. My wife was poking around (probably looking for her next Durango SRT) and saw it's back on the dealer site at the same price as before (which was a $1400 "profit" if you don't count the battery and certification costs).

A hot mike caught the guy who made the return:
Salesman: "Uhh, why are you back? Need to accesorize it like Security Guy did his?"
Buyer: "Doesn't fit in my garage and the neighbors all own F150's or Chebbies and said they don't want to get shown up"
Salesman: "Bummer man, there goes my $500., I already spent it on a new plaid sports coat and wide tie."

Update to the previous 2 updates… Monday will be 8 weeks, count em’, 8 since I sold it and as of today (Saturday the 10th) it’s still there on their lot.
(Monday: Yep, still there, same price.)

I wonder if it‘s the bag of onions thats under the back seat that I forgot to take out that has something to do with it?
With this heat I bet them onions are pretty ripe!

Sold my truck last week, and it's already on the dealer lot ready to be sold.

They really can't sell it until my loan is paid off...lol

Has anyone run their truck on vroom this week? Just curious if up or down? I would imagine after the news this week, numbers should be going back up.

I hope so lol. About to try and trade my old truck in toward a smaller, newer car and hoping to offset a significant chunk of said car.

Regardless of what you get for your trade, dealer greed is at an all time high with 95% of the dealers - except for those dealers recommended on this forum. Good luck negotiating for anything under MSRP as these dealers forget that economic bubbles are short but customer memories and impressions last a lifetime.

It appears mine has finally moved on from AutoNation's lot, has been off their website for 4-5 days now. Last listing was at $39,491 and I feel bad for anyone who may have payed close to that for it but I guess they may have got someone.

After getting a lot of ridiculous quotes for a new ram I decided to buy out my lease. The dealer tried to buy it out from the lease company who can only sell it at market value and they wanted $41k for it. I got it for $27k plus the remaining few months left on the lease. It has 43k miles and is a night edition 2019 big horn.

They will do just fine. Even if they sell it for what they paid you, they will still make thousands on financing it to the next guy.

I didn't know where to place my specific trade in question. So I will try here.

See my signature below in the type of truck I'm trading in. I only have 3100 miles on it.

With that said, I placed an order for a 2022 big horn back country ( some of you might have seen me post on the orders page).

My question is as follows. I placed an order at my dealer but it will also be the same place I might trade in my truck, due to the taxes transfer being paid on the new truck. However, my issues is that other dealers are offering $3-$4k more than that dealer, so I'm holding out.

Is this a good move to hold out and wait, or should I ask for more for my trade in?

I have another vehicle to drive, but im holding out for the most money I can possibly make on my truck.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Owner of a 2020 Ram Laramie (leveled with 2" rc struts and 1" rear spacer on 33.5" toyo open country) , 16 Dodge Charger scat pack and my wife 21 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara (2.5" rc lift with 35" duratracs)
Look into the specifics for your state. Call the DMV. You may be able to sell to another dealer in state than the one you buy the new one from and still get the tax benefits. The trade and purchase may not have to be on the same transaction.

Hate to see my Ram go, but had to take advantage of the inflated prices for used trucks. Paid 38,000 for my Laramie in July 2020, and I got 40,000 this month for it. Using the money to pick up a new 2021 Charger Scat Pack, which will be delivered by the end of the month. Will toy around in the Charger for about a year, and then hope to get back into a truck, hopefully a TRX.
