Hey all, I'm curious as to how I find out if I need to update my stereo, or if I'm running the most current version? I've seen people talk about how it's been on there trucks, but I never saw it happen to mine, and my dealership is pretty much worthless for information. I have the 8.4 non-nav unit if that makes a difference.

I checked mine on the uconnect website and it showed nothing for mine.
I took mine in a few weeks ago for the recalls and check for uconnect update. They had to load the update to a flash drive then load it to my truck. Took 2 days cause they didn't know they had to download it.
My radio was messing up when connecting to my phone by bluetooth. Volume would increase and decrease and would only have a few radio stations that worked. Had to swap to AM then back to FM to correct each time...
Also if yours ISN'T updated, when you push your seat recall button 1 or 2 the radio will skip/stutter all the way until the seat reaches its memorized spot. That's what mine did.
I was not able to access dealer mode on mine until after the update. Now i can see what version it is.
I havent had any issues with my radio since then.

Can we just download the update on a USB drive ourselves? My local dealer doesn't seem to know how to do this. All of the glitches are quite annoying. I would love to have them fixed.

Heres a discussion on dealer mode on this site. Only useful to see what version you have. Theres another discussion somewhere on here that lays out what the update fixes.

Does anyone have the issue where you shut the truck off when on XM and on start up, it switched to fm?

If your seat memory was set while listening to FM, the truck will bring up the station you were listening too when you hit your seat recall button. It may also do the same when you unlock your truck if you also set your truck to remember which fob you're using.

So I've actually had first hand experience with this, logging in to the DealerConnect website, thanks to a generous friend borrowing his ID temporarily, and found with great frustration that the software is tied to the parameters of your exact truck. Since we all have different options and trims, there is specific updates (ie: 12" vs 8.4") and you can't download an update unless the database recognizes the VIN you input as needing the update you think you need. So I concluded that once fixes were completed and collected then distributed to the packages requiring patches would then update the VIN database and notify the dealer of an update for that specific truck. That's the only explanation that made sense to me after looking through the DealerConnect site and noting that many owners have been recieving updates almost at random.

Confusing, but I think thats whats happening.
