Uconnect box battery low

Why can't you service the battery in the telematics module? The part # for the battery is 68493347AA.
Well technically you can. But Darksteel165 said the battery is soldered connections instead of the normal battery slot for an AA battery. See the post I quoted above.

Technically he said the connector is soldered on the battery. I just provided the Mopar part number of the "not serviceable" battery, do you also need service procedure on how to replace the part?

For sure you can order a replacement. $80 for a $15 battery lol. It's just a regular old Li battery.

The point I am making... is that they claimed the battery isn't serviceable because of what you said. Is it just a regular battery or is there more to it than a battery?

It's "not serviceable" by dealers, because they don't want to have to hire skilled people who do circuit board repair. They just want to be module jockeys.

There was a rumor that some of the telematics modules sat on the shelf too long and let the batteries decay into inactivity. If true, replacing the battery should restore normal function. And some of the older ones that have been in service for awhile will be starting to get weak from charge cycle fatigue. Mine failed early on and was replaced under warranty, I haven't had eyes on it myself. Anyone have photos?

It's just a regular old battery, but unless you can solder the battery, you would need to buy the OEM part if it's for sale (which is looks like it is for $80+)

There is a big sticker on the battery compartment that says warranty void if removed which is placed there by the manufacturer, the kind that when you peel off it's metal looking with void under it.
So that would mean it is not serviceable, would it not?

It just means they don't want you touching it, while it's under warranty. Computers are the same way, say warranty void if seal is broken. After warranty, you can do what you want.

No, if they didn't want it serviced they wouldn't sell the part or give service information on how to replace it. Unless you have some other logical reason for the part and service info.

It could be interpreted that way. Unless the replacement part comes with a new "warranty void" sticker. I didn't see any sticker mentioned in the service info presented.

Yes you can solder to the ends of these batteries, but it's not recommended. If you prep the surfaces well and hit it with a very hot iron for a very short time period, so the heat doesn't have a chance to soak in, you can get away with it. The OEM's use a spot welder, which is even hotter, but a very short pulse.

The batteries are also available from electronics manufacturing distributors with tabs already welded on, which would probably be preferred. And they don't cost anywhere close to $80, but stock and lead time may vary, depending on the tab style. I didn't see the tabs in any of your photos, so I can't chase that any further.

The battery was not available from FCA when they replaced mine, or at least that's what the dealer told me. He could be FOS or the supply chain may have improved since then.
