Not sure if mine is related to this or not since they haven't looked at it yet but are hoping to look at it this afternoon. Had it towed to the dealer on Tuesday and waiting to see what the issue is. The 12v battery was reading 8.9v on the voltmeter and then also when trying to jump start it the starter keeps going but the engine won't start almost like the computer is not allowing it to spark or get gasoline. I hope they figure it out soon.... My dealership also doesn't do loaners and sends you out to Enterprise rent a car which is a bigger waste of time and even more inconvenient.

Hello JJRamTX,
We are certainly sorry to hear about your recent experiences. If you are interested in getting connected with a Case Specialist to add an additional layer of support throughout this process, please reach out to us privately at your earliest convenience.

Mine was the ground bolt issue. 3400 miles now and not a single issue. It's good they did a recall.

What part did they actually replace? Was it a ground bolt on the starter side or from the starter to the engine block?

Thanks !

I just received a recall notification from the Ram app, says I need to schedule to have the ground bolt replaced or checked? Could this be the low voltage issue some of you are having?
thats what happened to mine

On my Ram app it list FCA recall # W-14 March 10, 2020. Campaign description 2020 DT Ground bolt. I contacted the local dealer , he claims that the part is not in stock waiting for FCA to ship and could take several weeks. Thats why I was asking gtab55 what bolt did they actually replace.

Anybody have a campaign number on that recall or a copy of the letter?

Hey, WXman. If your vehicle is part of this Customer Satisfaction Notification, an owner letter will be delivered soon. You can check for updates at recalls.mopar.com.

Just now started having issues with mine starting. 34k miles and less than a year old. Voltmeter seems normal. 14.1 at startup and really doesn’t go below 13.4 while driving.

If it sits for more than a day or so it’s dead as a brick. Maybe it’s the battery. Need to get it load tested before the dealer gets involved.

Anyone else have similar issues?

The ground cable to the block is too short, causing it to potentially come loose and cause a no start . My dealer did mine a few weeks ago.

Where at on the block is it? I’ll gladly get under there and fix it.

Good Question, I have been trying to find out exactly where that ground bolt it is. I would rather do it myself ...dealer doesn't have the part.

Follow the big fat cable from the negative terminal on your battery. One will go to the starter ( check there ) one will go to the block. Check there too.

Then check the ones going to the frame by the battey and make sure they are not all painted.

If you will register on the Ram app, it will show you active recalls for your truck. There’s one for wiper arms right now

The problem I am having is the first dealer said the part (a bolt) is on back order. The 2nd dealer I contacted told me to bring truck in first as they wanted to look at it before determining if parts are required....a bolt. I can't see wasting my time going down there and then they say that they will have to order the "bolt".

I suspect it’s the bolt into the block by the motor mount and starter area. It’s tight. All of my other ground connections are paint free.

Had to jump it, drove it home (15 mins). Voltmeter on dash read 14.5 for about five mins and fluctuated down to 13.5 which is normal.

Got home and threw the voltmeter on the battery before I shut it off and it read exactly the same. Shut the truck off and it slowly goes down to about 9.5 volts and won’t start.

Seems like a dead cell to me damnit. Going to the dealer tomorrow to see what they do or don’t come up with.

If the battery was dead, low charge, a quick jump and a short drive isnt going to charge it. It takes 24-36 HOURS on a charger. You have to put back what was taken out. What you saw was float or surface charge.

You need to charge the battery to 12.7 volts or more and put it on a 100 amp load and then if the voltage drops to less than 10 you have a bad cell.

There is a problem with something causing a parasitic draw on the battery. They need to find it and release a new software version I suspect. I have the same issue and originally blamed it on my Tazer which may not be the problem. They replaced my battery but the issue remains. Get in the truck with a 2 week old battery and it is 12.1 or 12.0 Volts.....

Open the hood, open the fuse box beside the battery. Firmly press every single module, fuse and relay in there hard and make sure they are fully seated. My AC Clutch? , what it was labeled was loose and I was seeing a 2.5 amp drain with the truck off. Several others were also loose.
