Just dropped of my truck with the dealer seeking assistance in getting rid of the Green Lines that pop up on the backup camera screen (Provided Pictures of the event Again / supposedly fixed last year when it cropped before). Also asked them to take a look at the breaks as they groan when I back up early in the mornings in it is cool.

Already know that nothing will be done when I stated that the Green Lines are intermittent and the Service Manager said that unless the technicians could duplicate it ....... Concerning the Brakes, it is rust build up... note that I said moaning and not grinding which rusty brakes do. Lord forbid that they actually look as the TSBs that are on the breaks..... Already know that I will get a call telling me that my truck is ready for pickup and that they were unable to duplicate anything. Not looking forward to the readdressing the A/C & Recirc Vent that keeps opening up letting the hot outside air into the cab that is supposed to be getting cooled via the A/C. (Chrysler/Fiat closed out the earlier Claim while I was on a cruise last OCT even as I reported that the last attempt to "Fix" it failed yet again)

Thinking that this will be my LAST Dodge / RAM after 6 purchases. I might actually have to make a move to a Toyota.....

More to follow....

Agreed! Toyota is probably my next move too. They totally ruined these new trucks. I don't understand how they could make such a good vehicle with the last generation and then completely screw up on the new one! It doesn't seem to be just a handful of people having these problems either. Seems to be a big problem a lot of people are having.

Not having any problems, big nor small, not screwed up, probably more than a handful such as mine.

They should be replacing parts - looking up TSB's and taking the owners word for an issue - no questions asked - on a new model truck just to make customers happy instead of saying "we can't duplicate the problem " !!!!

Half or more of these types of messages appear to be the result of really poor service from the dealer's service staff. Performance examples like this DO NOT do any favor for Ram or FCA. I guess some service managers just want an easy day.

I digress.

Not only is there a TSB for the brake moan when backing, but there's a kit for it, too. TSB # 05-002-19, Brake Kit, Moan, 68446866AA.

So who ever this dealer is I've done the research work for you! I imagine you're too embarrassed, and you should be.

This TSB states "If the customer describes the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Repair Procedure" In other words the dealer DOES NOT have to replicate the issue. If you say the brakes moan they are to FIX THEM per the TSB.

Correct!

It's hard to believe that this particular dealer hasn't seen this issue, or hasn't seen the TSB. I wonder what this dealer's service policy is and what they think they are buying by this lousy service. Many, if not most problems are intermittent, and sometimes a really good tech. will try to initiate the problem, either on the lift or on a test drive.

I wonder how much time was charged on the warranty submission?

UPDATE AS PROMISED -

Got off work a little early and made my way through town in order to get my hair cut... Drove by the Dealership on the way out of town on the way to the house. I noticed my truck sitting in the pickup / post service parking lot. Got excited as I spun the loaner truck around in order to fill the tank while calling the dealership to verify that the truck was in fact ready... Was informed that my truck was still in the garage being worked on. I made comment that I just witnessed it in the parking lot and vice arguing / questioning I said Thank You and hung up. Two hours latter I got a phone call to inform me that my truck was ready AND THAT THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEMS. imagine that. I will acknowledge:

1) The truck had been moved from where I saw it parked 2 hours earlier..

2) A new backup camera was ordered due to the pictures that I shared of the Green Lines....

3) I still need to take the truck back for the AC / Recirculate / Vent issue that has been ongoing since day one (got tired of dealing with it and Winter Hit).

Really Tired & Disappointed.

Had several problems with mine so far but would not get rid of it at this point . The good outweigh the bad. That being said do not need the truck for work.

First of all, there's a TSB for brake moan as a result of sitting overnight and accumulating a glaze of surface rust? Really? I can't believe they'd actually issue a TSB over that. They'll be like dogs chasing their tails. I don't think I've ever had a vehicle of any brand that DIDN'T have brake moan first thing in the morning, especially in damp weather.

Second, you're going to give up a Ram to go to Toyota? That's like trading chicken pox for cancer. Crankshaft failures, emissions failures, rear ends grenading, frames rusting out from under the truck, worst MPG in the entire segment, worst crash test scores in the entire segment, ugliest truck in the segment, TSBs and recalls pages long, etc. etc. Why would anybody purposefully drive a Toyota?

I will admit I did try a Toyota once. V8 exhaust manifolds were toast by 90k miles and the repair wasn't easy. T-case froze up and stopped working. Chassis looked like swiss cheese after a few winters. It was a nightmare. I went back to domestic brands any will never look back.

My truck had few issues early on that were fixed by the dealer, like brake squeal, squeaking center console, and ambient lighting not working. Also did a few recalls whenever it was in for the aforementioned issues.

The worst was the USB ports working off and on, and a dead battery last fall. Believe me, when that happened, I also felt like crap and very dissapointed, but after they replaced the battery and fixed the USB ports (bent connector from the factory), my truck has been flawless.

I’ve been fortunate as I have had no clunk, bezel cracks, or leaks like others have had. Granted, we are a very small swath of the RAM population, and a lot of folks here come because they have isssues. There must be hundred thousand other owners or more that have perfectly good trucks. If you go to the F150 forums, there are also boatloads of users with a myriad of issues as well. You will never find a brand that doesn’t have them.

Hang in there and see if you can find a better dealer. They‘re out there. Mine has bent over backwards to get my issues resolved.

Cheers,
Neurobit

I happen to have a good dealership for service also. Davis in Yulee, FL. 3 for 3 so far.
Also got a nice loaner with no hassle even though I live close ( 6 miles).

Welcome to life, when the problem is intermittent it could take awhile so the better you can troubleshoot the problem the faster it will force them to fix it.

Who cares if it's ugly and gets bad mpg. I need a truck to do truck things and can't get the job done with this POS ram constantly being in the shop

True. This is a first for me too. Not the end of the world as it only lasts for about 2 seconds, but none of my prior vehicles have ever had this (including a 2004 RAM 1500 and a 2006 2500).
