I brought my truck into the dealership for service in April. It shifts funny when going from first to second gear, it takes awhile and then jumps but not all the time. Also when I was stopped at a complete stop the truck jumped forward as if someone had hit me from behind. I was told it needed an update, then told it needed the valve body replaced. Finally in June they said it’s all done. I had it for 2 days and then dropped it back off because of the same problems not fixed. I was told they were going to go through my warranty or extended warranty for anew transmission. It’s now almost September and I am still without my truck and no answers. Has anyone else had a problem like me?

Not on my Ram, but I had a similar issue when I had my Charger. I couldn't duplicate the problem reliably so the dealership never fixed it. I ended up stopping way short of everyone else at stop lights so the big shove (if it happened again) didn;t slam me into another vehicle. Good luck.

Yes that’s exactly the problem, they can’t duplicate it all the time so if the inspector comes and they can’t show anything then that’s pretty much it. This truck has been nothing but a nightmare! It had front end noises and they fixed the sway bar links but then it was still doing it so while it’s up there the re-diagnosed it and said it’s the strut and will be fixing that. I’m going on 5 months with them having my truck this time around. I am beyond frustrated. It’s a shame because I really so live the interior and other things with this truck but I am thinking about getting the gmc instead

I have now joined the “Sloppy Transmission” lunge forward club :(

Roughly 17,000 km on my truck. 2022 Ram 1500 Sport Night Edition Crew Cab 4X4. Rear Axle Ratio: 3.21. (Non-E-Torque).

When slowing down right before a complete stop say approaching a stop sign, stop light or another car. Periodically my RPM Drops to 250 very low then jumps to 1000+ RPM.

Almost feels like the truck is going to stall out then is lunging the truck forward with the brake pedal pressed all the way down. When it lunges it’s very aggressive and clunk type noise is coming from somewhere.

It doesn’t do this all the time and definitely seems to be happening more frequently as the weeks pass. The second scenario is sometimes the same thing happens when just letting my foot off the gas pedal while driving. Clunk and surge forward.

Truck just started doing this over the past few weeks. Went to speak with my local service manager today at the dealership I got to for oil changes.

He said unfortunately they are aware of some ZF transmission issues that are affecting some customers trucks. They have a process they need to take which is understandable in order to get FCA to cover jobs and go through the proper steps.

After showing him some of the videos on my phone, they are starting with replacing the Transmission Valve Body sometime next week when the part comes in.

If that doesn’t work or damage is already done then he said we”ll be speaking about a rental, leaving my truck and a full transmission replacement. Thank god for warranty but so disappointed. So far looks like the dealership is willing to help and we’re nice about everything. They have also done a few transmission replacements already.

Truck drove like a dream the first 15,000 km. Never towed, never off-roaded. Just a fully loaded street truck that goes back and forth the work, errands and has been well looked after both inside and out.

I’ll update this thread as the repairs and fixes start.

Im in Perth Australia and Ive been having exactly the same issues since buying the RAM 1500 limited from new 2023 , not even done 16000km yet, its been in and its out of the dealership for weeks at a time, they keep the car for 2 weeks and nothing gets sorted - saying that they have to wait for RAM engineering to to come back to them with something new to try to find a solution, Ive taken the tech for a drive to try and replicate the issue, the surging and clunky gear change was present, not as aggressively as usual, but as you say its very hard to pin point as it doesn't happen all of the time.
On one occasion, I had the thudding sound ( the loudest its been) the car went straight in to Limp mode and the transmission light came on, so another trip back to the dealership and they replaced the oil sump, I picked the car up a week later, 1 hour after driving, I still had the clunking sound, also the surging sensation - no change - I am not a mechanic but its clearly an issue with the gear box or something.

I'm also having issues with the lights
When the lights are set to auto (so that they come on and off, full beam is automated etc) - I have no lights the instrument panel, so cant see the controls in the car, I have to switch the light to on, which illuminates the dash, - at first they tried to tell me that its a characteristic of the car - BS - if thats the case, why does it work on all other settings - same thing the dealership can't find the fault, its back been again in for the last 2 weeks and still no answers on both issues, I now have to go back today and take the tech for another drive

Anyone else had this issue?

The dealership give me a renault koleos runaround car to use, They put me in touch with RAM Australia to try to get a car to tow with, but all they can offer is something that tows 3.5 tonne which is not enough for me It's so frustrating when you spend so much money on a vehicle and this happens, the car has almost spent more time in the workshop than on the road, even more frustrating when its quite clearly a common problem, in addition to that, it's really inconvenient having to take the car back and forth and not having a vehicle that can tow, ( that's why I bought it ) - - VERY POOR FORM from RAM and the dealership.

On a positive note, taking these issues away, I love a lot about the car, very comfortable, interior is great, looks like a beast and it tows like a dream -

-I JUST WANT IT FIXED - Does anyone have any suggestions?

Look into AlfaOBD. You can get it the Android app or Windows version. There's an option to reset transmission adaptives which actually clear the them unlike when you pull the battery cable. Another option is checking the transmission fluid for proper level.
