Just picked up my 2019 and upon starting it and shifting it into DRIVE I pressed on the gas pedal and the vehicle did not move, when I finally gave it more gas it finally engaged and the truck jerked forward and I was able to drive. This happened three times yesterday. Just seeing if this has happened to anyone else?

Your post says transmission lag, but I’m curious... did the engine rev and not shift. Or was is pedal throttle response lag where the engine didn’t rev?

It rev'd up when I pressed on the gas but when I went to DRIVE and pressed on the gas like I said it it rev'd but wouldn't move and then it jerked forward.

There was a similar post where the auto parking brake was an issue. That’s all I’ve got.

Also sounds like you could be low on transmission fluid or any number of other problems.. I'd run that truck to the dealer asap

What's sad is I just picked it up yesterday!! Ughhhh

I'd put my money on the auto parking brake. Could check for sure by manually releasing it before you press on the gas next time and see if it's just not disengaging till you get it moving.

I've been on many Ram forums for a few years and your symptoms are the first I've seen. Sounds like a learning curve, like when I thought I had bad pedal response and realized I just need to adjust my pedals, never had adjustable pedals before.

Hi Mongo,

Congratulations on the purchase of your new Ram! I am sorry to hear that you have a concern with your truck. If you decide to take your vehicle to a local Ram dealer for service, please send us a message if you are in need of additional assistance.

This happened to me to me this morning. Drove my son to school no issue. Came back to truck and put in drive. Hit gas and rev'd up, but didn't go. I checked the dial again to make sure I was in drive, which I was. Rev'd it up more and it launched forward. Hasn't happened again, but I do only have about 80 miles on it.

There's another thread going with your same issue, but they are calling it shifter nob issue. Just a note my buddy's 15 sierra came off the lot brand new 2.5 quarts low on tranny fluid, so it does happen and these zfs are sealed so they might tell you they can't check level which is BS, push the issue if you have to a good mechanic knows how to check level in a sealed unit.

Thanks. I read up on the different threads now and I'll have to pay closer attention. It has happened only once, and I can't rule out the seatbelt not being clicked all the way, etc. I don't think it was the parking brake as I don't remember that symbol being on the screen. I'll wait to worry until it happens again.

Got over a thousand on mine and nothing like what you described. I've driven without the seat belt and nothing either. The only thing I got to get used to is if the drivers door is open the auto parking break engages, Ugghh!

Mine did the same thing the night I drove it off the lot. It’s been in the shop for almost 2 1/2 weeks now and is getting a new transmission.

Takes a few hundred miles for the computers to learn. Give it a few hundred miles and see. Coming from a gm 8sp and massive amounts of torque management these trucks even tho by the numbers are slower. They feel faster. I dont notice any lag like my denali had

I found it to be a matter of the truck and I learning each other. I don't know if it is learning my habits but I know I cuss at it and learn its habits. Its in the computer chip acceleration programming. Meaning the response time will take into consideration a lot of engineering factors and engine conditions to inject the fuel when you step on the pedal. You can get a throttle response controller to stop most your jerky or stalling problems and it may even give you better gas milage they say. I bought a pedal commander and it helped my truck accelerate smoother particularly in the lower gears.

I cant tell what effects the 8 speed transmission has on lag but I know it feels smoother. I have the 392 rear end and from a dead stop its faster then my previous Chevy or Ford trucks. Your acceleration will depend on your rear end gear ratio. Once I installed my pedal commander and adjusted the settings to what I felt ran best its been great. My truck is almost as much fun to put the pedal to the floor as driving my 69 Camaro with 383 power stroke. I said almost.

Your radio volume has been an issue and there may be a Uconnect update to solve the issue. My volume seems a bit low at times and other times too loud.

Electronic Park Brakes: I had a habit of starting my AMG GT and putting it in drive with my driver door open. It always turns on the electric park brake.

If I close the door then shift to drive it doesn’t turn it on.

New cars will turn off the e-brake if you rev through it. Unfortunately, the e-brake can now be controlled by computers so they are programmed to do what they think is best for us.

I’ll try it on the Ram later and post what I find.

You can turn off the automatic parking brake in the settings. I had the same problems and knew it was the fact the brake automatically sets on its own or if you put in park. So I turned off the auto brake so when I miss shift to Park then I don't need to release the brake. If I want to set the brake I just push the lever by my left leg.

Mine did the same exact thing the night I bought it. It continued to do it through 800 miles about 20% of the time, at which point I brought it in. Dealership did a software reset, hoping that fixes the problem. Been 3 days and so far so good...
