Is there a trick to hooking up a trailer and getting the icon? It recognizes the trailer every time, but only once in a while will it have the icon with the trailer length. My blind spot mirror lights flash constantly when it doesn't display the icon. Yesterday, it showed the icon but when I stopped for gas and restarted the truck, it was gone.

My guess is that...it defaults back each time the truck is off.
There is a sequence in the owner's manual in how to get the trailer recognized.
I do not have a manual but from memory it is a certain amount of left and right turns.
So that could be your issue. Good luck.

He is correct, after a turn it two my truck guesses at the trailer length.
You can also set it to either auto detect or to the maximum length it can detect.
