There’s very little play in those directions. I’m not sure if these are for the 4th gens, but it said through 2019 on amazon. They fit great

I’m attempting this install and it seems the bolts are about 1/8” too short to get the rubber expansion block under the metal lip. I’m afraid to loosen the rectangular nut too much and have it fall inside the bed wall if I wiggle the bolt too much. What’s the trick?
All the pictures and advise on how to cut away the plastic were spot on.

You don’t want to get the expansion blocks underneath the metal lip in the stake pocket. When you tighten down the bolts it pulls the expansion block into the tracrac rail and expands. You want it to expand against the metal lip if that makes sense.

Ok, that makes more sense. With the rear pocket, the rubber block will expand against the plastic bed cap before it hits the metal, right? And that’s ok? I cut out the plastic out from about a 1/8 to 1/4” down.

Sorry for my late reply on this but just to clarify that it is my understanding that you want the rubber block to squeeze against the metal of the truck, pulling the TracRac rail down onto the bed rail. The plastic sleeve that is in the rear stake pocket should be cut out to the point where the block hits the metal not the plastic. If you are squeezing the rubber block to the plastic, then the rail cap is the only thing holding the rear end of the baserail to the truck and that is not great. It may work, but I wouldn't trust it.

Not sure if you're still looking for info, but I had my TracRac SR put on my 2019 6'4" bed on Saturday. The place I use said the previous gen parts work fine and they had already installed a number of them before mine. I obviously can't help with installation tips/tricks since they did it, but I wanted to show that the parts work. Side note/gripe... the new tracracs don't seem as solid as the old ones! I have an older set on my Tacoma that has the one-piece, raw aluminum uprights with side braces and there is ZERO flex to them. These new ones have a bit of flex. Hopefully they hold up!

I finally got my trac rac’s installed today. This was much more than just installing a new product. I have had these trac racs since 2009,, and this was the 3rd Ram they have been installed on. The problem was the racks were made for an 8’ bed. I had 2 different 8’ beds before this 6’ 4” bed. However,, after a lot of measuring,,cutting,,drilling I got it to fit perfectly. The best part is the original trac rac , which I have ,, is much better than the new Thule system.

It took a good portion of the day with the help of my buddy . If you factor in a handful or two of beer it went smoothly,, just time consuming making sure everything is perfect before drilling,, or tightening.
