Ok ok, so I'm not sure what to do with my spare tire, this is the first rotation for the truck. I have a North Edition that comes with 5 Wildpeak 275/65/R18 tires, but the wheel on my spare is different than the other 4 wheels. So all 5 tires are the same, but spare wheel is different than the other 4 wheels, if that makes sense?
Traditionally I've always just done a 5-way rotation but being that my spare is on a completely different wheel I'm not sure what to do about that.

Should I be having the 5th tire taken off of that spare wheel and switched out with another tire? Or should I just not include the spare at all? If I had a flat later on down the road is that going to have a detrimental impact to the driveline since it's tread will be brand new compared to the other tires? I was always taught that with 4x4 vehicles the tire treads needed to be similar to eachother in depth/wear....

In that case, I just do a 4-wheel rotation.

If I want to include the spare in a rotation, I get a matching rim and make sure the TPMS in the spare is working.

Good points from @c3k.

IMO, the difference in tread depth between the daily used tires and spare tire shouldn't be much of a concern, unless you are nearing the end of the tread life of your tires

I never include the spare. It’s on a different rim anyway so not even an option. Just check the air pressure and leave it alone.

It’s too bad the spare isn’t monitored by TPMS. One less thing to worry about. I’m guessing most owners rarely check them.

I would add a cleaning, inspection for rust and some polish on that spare IF you are planning on keeping it. Mine already started with the rust. Neglected my 2001, spare not pretty, needs replacement, one more thing on the "to do" list.

Good point. I typically don’t keep a vehicle more than 4-5 years so haven’t dealt with that but dropping the spare down every once in awhile is a good practice. It would suck to find out the mechanism too is rusted tight and you can’t even access your spare when needed.

My 2001 mechanism checks out Ok but the rim is questionable. For the most part it doesn't go far.

Love owning it for the winter SALT storms NYC sanitation lays down. There is so much excess salt put down under the former mayor's administration the vehicles have a coating of salt. I pray for rain to clean the streets.

Every mayor fears a winter snow storm city shut down. DeBlasio had his and blamed the OEM director Joe Esposito (former NYPD Chief of Patrol) and only real man or person appointed by DeBlasio. Katherine Garcia was Commissioner of Sanitation.

It goes back in time.
