Tire help

2 weeks ago I put new wheels and Toyo Open Country AT3 LT285/60/20 on. Messed with the pressure for a few days and drove in dry & rain.
Love the look, love the performance in the dry, but the wet is down right dangerous!
Install shop is willing to swap, my question is what do I go with…Brand, size?
Background, had Falken AT3W in P275/60/20 and was amazed by them, drove them for years and was ready for something different.
Falken new AT4 is so darn heavy I wet with Toyo.

Whats dangerous about them... Never had a issue with MTs in the rain. I'm just running cheap Chinese radar r7 MTs at 41psi and have no issues.

I have the the toyo oc at3 also and don’t like the ride on wet pavement . That was
The biggest disappointment . They are great as far as road noise and in the snow and I didn’t feel much of any mpg loss but my next tire will be different. 44k miles on them so far

My Falkens would spin, ever now and then. But only when I tried to. The Toyo’s surprised me in that they would spin just pulling out. Definitely not trying to spin and every time I had trouble.

Fair. Mine break loose if I try as well I just don't dog on it

I've liked the radar renegade AT, I've got the 3:92 rear end with a 2" ready lift level up front. No spacers. Running a 275/65r20 so a 34.1 by 11 wide on their MT I enjoy it.

I absolutely love the performance (especially in the rain) of my Yokohama G015’s. Dry traction is also great. And zero issues in snow as they are Three peak rated as well. They are smooth and quiet to boot. My 285/65r20’s weight 60lbs and my 3.92 gears have no issue moving them. The only semi downfall is that I wish they were a little more aggressive looking (sidewall wise). But overall I would recommend them for sure.



I see that Cooper has a new tire out that competes with Falken ATW4. It doesn’t have the weight listed but I’m sure you could find out. I might give these a shot when I’m due for new rubber.

I just changed tire size to 275/60/R20 on my stock OEM rims. I bought Bridgestone Dueller AT Revo 3s they are quiet are rated for 60K and are 3peak snow rated. In what little rain I have driven tires have not made me concerned. I am a conservative driver and generally slow down in the rain. So far I would buy these tires again approx 500 miles or so after installation. I do not have any lift, no tire rubbing and I also changed my tire size from factory 275/55/R20 with my AlphaOBD software. The factory tires Bridgestone Duler H/L were horrible in the rain, why they put low-profile street tires on a 4x4 truck makes me wonder, but I got my truck Nused.

I know everyone is going to get butt hurt and freak the F’ out over this statement but I have the Kenda klever in 35x12.5x20 and we have had a sh** ton of rain in OK. I’ve taken hwy on ramps and junctions(loops) at good speeds. Went through pools of water at 50+ and they don’t slip or skid they don’t miss a beat! I had ridge grapplers before this and almost put my truck in a ditch 2 times when driving in rain. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you everyone for the reply’s. Shop wants to swap to 305/55/20 Falken AT4 the new one in standard load. I’m going to stop in this afternoon and talk with them.

Update, decided to have them install FWP AT4W in 305/55/20. Only a few miles driving home, but I like how they feel. No lose of power ( was afraid of the weight). Really like the wider stance, no rubbing.
