Thinking of adding OEM style Painted Flares

Considering ordering some laramie style flares for my 2020 big horn crew Night ORP. I will probably paint them and clear them with Granite Chrystal Or maybe the gloss black that’s on the grille. Comments please, but I am thinking Granite. Has anyone found that the OEM or aftermarket flares collect dirt and grime behind them and damage the fender finish? From what I gather they seem to wrap the fender edge and may prevent Stone chips and future rust on the fenders. If you‘ve had any experience with flares let me know. I have had great luck with urethane base coat and 2k clear paint jobs from spray cans. See the pics of my sons new F150 bumpers, Veloster bumper and Suburban rear quarter.. all of those done with $50 in materials each.

I don't know about the Ram but I have found with other vehicles that that is exactly what happens. It depends on how long you intend to own the vehicle. Being up north in snow land I suspect you would see a lot of rust faster than I would in the South.

The OEM flares rely on holes in the fenders which the Big Horn doesn't have, so just pay attention that what you order will fit on the Big Horn and you should be good.

Incredible job with the spray can, my projects don't turn out like that!
