Good morning, I have a 2019 ram 1500 5.7 4x4 Laramie crew cab and the last few days while it’s been colder in New York, I have been having problems with my climate control. While it’s set to 63° it seems to be accurate, then I go up 1° to 64° and it actually pushes like 74° or something a lot warmer than 64°. Just wanted to get an idea of what it could be. I did have heater core replaced about 7months ago cause there was a hole in it. As well as other ac things like flaps and doors. Please help me out! Thank you!!!

They only way you will know for sure is to get a thermometer and insert it into a vent in full blast.

Just a guess...

If the truck is AT 63, and you want to WARM IT MORE up to 64, it will HAVE TO push HOTTER air through. It may push 74 air to raise the cabin from 63 to 64, then settle.

Based on outside temps, say, 62, it may have to provide 65 air at speed 3 to keep the cabin at 64.

But, if the outside is minus 8, it may have to push 80F air at speed 4 to keep the cabin at 64. (<- both examples totally made up in all regards).

So, without more info, kinda hard to tell. Assuming you've got normal life experience of automatic climate control, if your truck seems off...it probably is. A cheap vent thermometer and a call to the dealer may fix you right up. (Wild *ss guess: the sun sensor on your dash needs to be uncovered for accurate temp control. Nothing is on it, right?)

The other obvious idea is what you hinted at: that the previous heater core work has messed something up.

Well, he didn't say he was using auto climate control. Guess that is a question, OP are you using auto climate control?

I’m not using auto, when it is set to 63 it blows cold air then once I bump to 64 it blows hot air like I have it set to 78°

If there's a number in the controls, it's climate control. I don't have climate control on mine, it's just a dial that I can turn up, down or off.

Well, it's all climate control. But the numbers mean nothing unless you have the auto button. Setting it to 70 isn't going to keep the inside at 70 unless you have the auto button.

That's an issue then. I've heard of issues with the blend door. Do you have the auto button? If so, have you tried it to see what happens?
