Can anybody check is there is rust on this part of your tailgate because mine is fully rusted up and I don’t know if the dealership had something to do with this or this peace is really low quality and I am afraid I’ll rust the rest of the tailgate btw my truck only has 1500 miles

I'll look at mine too, but isn't the tailgate aluminum? Not that small part obviously, but the whole tailgate.

I will check also, When it gets light this morning. Checked mine Clean .

That's pretty rusty.. and yes, the tailgate is aluminum.

I didn't notice rust here, but wasn't specifically looking for rust at the time.

Your pictures look like a part wasn't painted or coated properly. I can't imagine they would use bare steel on a part there.

Just checked mine no rust, bring it back and have them take a look

That’s a bad fastener. As was stated earlier, have dealer replace that part, clean area properly. Doesn’t looked like it will need paint at this point (yet) but go get it taken care of.

Oy. Looks nasty; definitely get to dealer.

Seems like an early-build snafu... non-galvanized part.

Thanks guys now I am worried by the minute and I’m out of town all next week! I hope that when I get back nothing will get affected due to the rusty part :(

There is no reason whatsoever to worry. If other parts were going to rust, they'd rust regardless of what this part is doing.

If it really concerns you, when you get the proper galvanized parts, disassemble it when you get home and spray some rust neutralizer around there.

That would definitely concern me. Those parts were clearly not galvanized correctly, or even at all. Dealer should take care of that no questions, but in the meantime I would coat that area in wd-40 or even some grease if that's all you have laying around.

That's clip rust, not tailgate rust. Remove and Replace...easy fix

Dang @eduardolalo11 ,your having some odd stuff happening to your ride bro haha. Sorry to hear man, sure quick simple replace and be on your way

I know :/ I feel it’s just my luck a bunch of issues with my truck and I’m trying to get tackle them one by one

I checked and mine looks perfect, no rust. I can't tell if it's galvanized or silver paint or aluminum, but there isn't a special of rust here at all with about 1000 miles, and truck was built in October, so about 3 months of weather.

On the positive side, you brought attention a good spot for a lubricant spray point on the truck that should not be forgotten (y)
