I got the new connector from Amazon.
It's been fine for almost a year now.
The pins were loose in the connector. I bought the truck used, so I don't know what was done to it in the past, but the pins were not making good contact. When you plugged in the connector they would back out of it. The little plastic bit that's supposed to hold them in place was broken or not working.
