Steering shaft issue?

Does this look right? I tried sliding the two boots together but they don’t seem to cover the gears all the way. Sorry for the pictures. Hard to get a good pic of it but you can see the gear exposed.

That shouldn't be exposed. That's the slip joint and it should be protected.

Well looks like something else the dealership is going to have to fix

From your picture I thought it looked like maybe a clamp was missing from the boot. However, I just went out and looked at my truck, and it is identical to yours . I would be interested to see if anyone has a pic of theirs looking differently.
