Have a 2019 Ram Laramie, not many miles on it yet. It has had a steering noise from new. Checked some other posts on here which are not quite like this one. Had it to a dealer (am overseas on deployment) but cant get it back right now, they checked the ground strap and found it OK as there was a recall for that (even though this one was not part of that recall). Rack was also replaced. Did not fix issue. August 2019 build date.
It will also lose power steering assist completely on occasion which is not good.
Heres the thing, its making a noise from the steering rack which sounds exactly like it has a hydraulic pump steering in it (know its electric) that has low power steering fluid, exact same noise. When turning the steering wheel fast it sometimes loses power steer assist completely. If turning the wheel slower it still has assist but makes the noise like it has low power steering fluid on a hydraulic rack but its electric steering. It sounds like the steering rack is struggling when under torque. As the rack has already been replaced, and that did not fix it, I am thinking electrical issue with something else, and its not the ground strap recall, already done that.
Any ideas?
