They wanted to wait until truck arrives before talking $$. That may still work out in my favor if supply issues keep getting better and values stagnant or drop. Definitely going to call MD today.
Yeah that's pretty shady and as others have said it's a typical tactic they use. There's no reason you can't have a deal worked out at the time the order is placed, and if they are worried about a price increase they can opt to price protect the order so both dealer and customer are protected against a price increase between the time of order and time of delivery. They just don't want to do that, they'd prefer to do business another way.
Glad you're going to get a quote from MD though, never hurts to at least check the numbers! If you do order with them be sure to verify the price protection option, and you will know the price you'll pay for the truck once it arrives.
