So on the FCA website you can opt out of some manufacturer spying if you live in CA or VA.

Does anyone know of FCA uses the driver’s address or the VIN to associate info?

that is, if I use my home away from home in CA to opt out of FCA spying on me and selling my record of habits to whomever is willing to pay for them will it opt out the data collection on the VIN or the person who lives at my second home?

I don't think anyone knows.
Ramcares claimed they were pushing out over the air updates per state Michigan getting updates first and seeming confirmed by forum members who lived there getting updates before any of us did, but when asked how they know what state we are in they refused to answer (and or had no idea how).

They claim stuff is locked to the vin, so that should be the registered state, but I bet they are just geolocating the trucks but I have no way to test or prove it.

I would imagine it is where the vehicle is registered. You can probably tell them you have moved to your second address, but that would change all correspondence, such as recalls, or any other mailing, to that address. If someone else is living in that home, they would get your mail. I would worry more about that, than Ram spying.

the Only mail I ever get from Ram is junk mail. I’ll gladly forward it to someone else’s house.
