Not sure if I believe it until I see it....

I took my truck to the dealer about 3 weeks ago to try and get the road noise reduced. Standard (R Rear, road/wind noise, increases with speed) sound that has been mentioned a lot on this forum. Thank god I don't have that whistle some of you have posted, I would for sure be asking for a Lemon Law if they couldn't fix it. They ordered the new cab/bed seal when I brought it in originally in June, finally got around to taking it in. I also mentioned the alignment on the RamBoxes (thank you all for making me complain to the dealer about it!). After the mechanics put in the seal, they couldn't see anyway how it would improve the sound, so they asked to keep it.

Got a call yesterday saying that I have a defective Amp, a new one should be delivered today, and I get the truck back on Friday. I'm a bit skeptical, to say the least, but finger crossed!

And the RamBoxes? New ones installed while it was in shop.

Hopefully, Life is good!

Just out of curiosity, how old are you? I've seen a few of these road noise posts and I never hear anything but silence in my truck; I do notice a little bit from the back if I have the seats folded up, but I think this is just from creating a big cavern in the back. I wonder if this is because I'm going a little deafer as I get old or just you younger people have better ears than me!

At first, I thought you were accusing me of poor grammer! Fifty is staring me in the face next year.

My Dad (who wears hearing aids) and I drove the truck from Idaho to Alaska this May, and one time he asked me to roll up the windows so it was quieter...and that is when I realized I wasn't going crazy. We drove most of the way with the stereo off, so I wonder if I would have been in tune with it as much if I was rocking out to podcasts the whole way I did get a poor man Decibel Meter (phone based), which registered 77dB at 50 mph. Most of the videos online show the 65-68 dB. My '03 Tundra was 75 dB. And finally, the service manager took it out for a ride and told me there was something wrong.

The truck I test drove was whisper quiet. The custom ordered truck I bought...not so much. Enjoy your silence!! I will hopefully join you in blissful quiet soon.

I can't remember if I posted this story on here or not, but anyway, here goes.

Last week I was driving to pick up my kids from daycare, and I had the front windows rolled down. I heard what sounded like a chirping/cricket-type noise, like a wheel bearing but louder. Kind of like an F-150 with bad IWEs (ask me how I know LOL). It seemed to happen only in certain places. I pulled up in the daycare lady's driveway and got out of the truck while it was still running... no noise from the truck! That's when I realized it WAS crickets by the road side (tree-lined roads), and it completely went away when I rolled up my windows.

The next day I made sure to have my windows down, same time of day, similar road except no trees, and no noise, either.

I guess the ANC really does work!

It doesn't help that I have hearing loss and severe tinnitus in both ears.

OK, so we are about the same age so it must definitely be something in your truck! 77 db at 50 MPH is ridiculously loud! That's almost hearing damage level over a full day of driving.

noise cancellation kicks in only with Windows up..... That may be a factor
